I bought this yesterday, post your thoughts please Won this on ebay yesterday. This will be my first one.Do you guys think I paid a fair price for what it is,and how could I make it even better? All suggestions welcomed,I am a noob to crawling but not R/C..23 yrs in the hobby and still going http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA:IT&ih=005 |
looks like a great deal for the price"thumbsup" good find |
I saw that on Ebay also. In my opinion its a great deal!"thumbsup" The parts are great quality and Reign chassis' are the poo!"thumbsup" |
Looks sweet man, great deal! If it were mine I'd remove the skid plate and wheel widners then lower the body and run the snotout of it."thumbsup" |
does appear to be a very good deal. drop the hitec 645 (or buy/install a dig unit and use it there) and put a STRONG servo in for steering. maybe a JR Z9000T, or Z9100T (about 115 for each) or for the ulitimate, the JR 8711 (140ish bux, but 406 in/oz of torque). you ll LOVE the steering for ever with one. being digital just be sure your epas are setup. |
It looks like a good setup! But the 645 has enough torque to turn 2.2's. |
yaaaay!!! Thanks allot guys I was hoping to hear that I made a good choice.I should get it today or monday ,I am siked!!So you guys are saying the servo is insufficient for what it is?Where would I find a dig tutorial that I could use for this?I searched and found nothing but maybe I was'nt thorough enough. |
It looks like a great deal !"thumbsup" |
Yea that was definatly a steal. |
Good deal!!! Like everyone said, upgrade the steering servo to something like a HS-945MG or the mac daddy HS-5955 servo. If you're in 1:1 4x4, the 645 is like turning 38" swampers with manual steering, move you to the 945 would be like power steering. With the 5955, it's full hydro steering. As for the dig, do a search. You'll find the information. Start with the TLT or Axial sections to read about digs. Digs come in different forms and fashions. It's basically used to lock or brake the rear tires which allows you tighter turns. BTW, the chassis you have is more of a competition chassis than a scale chassis. Scale chassis are ladder-frame style that you see in 1:1 rigs. |

I wouldn't worry about dig yet, just enjoy it for a bit and get familiar with it. If you still feel you want dig, the easiest swap would be to drop in an R2-D. For a scaler though, I think an R2 2 speed would be more fun. Congrats on a good purchase. |

Good price you did well, you can drop in your receiver and dial it in and go find some rocks or take a trail ride. The problem is that all this is addicting and you just spent you first $325 I guarantee it won't stop there welcome to the club."thumbsup" |

http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/scale-accessories/79619-homemade-winch-how.html MSD sells one but I'd send them and email first. I'm not sure where Ben is. http://www.montanascaledesigns.com/s...products_id=63 That Blazer in my post above uses the Wild Willy parts tree winch. It looks really good. http://www.shop.rpphobby.com/product...&productId=412 Here's another shot of it. |
Okay got the truck today and I love it!!!I am servo shopping now but I have a question....what would be the lowest OZ of torque I could get away with running this servo wise?I keep seeing servos with over 300 oz tq and it just seems unescessary for the way I will be running. |
"thumbsup" Nothing like getting a new toy to play with, especially from a good seller who knew what they were doing. When it comes to the servo the more power the better. Anything under 300oz will come up short in a tough spot, you always want to be able to turn your wheels no matter what. I run a Hobbico cs170 titanium gear servo (same servo as the Hitec 5955 just with a different label and about $20 less) and with 333oz of torque you cant go wrong. In my opinion spent the extra cash for a high torque servo and you will never have any steering issues, ever. Have fun with it!"thumbsup" |
Okay heres what I got today close up this time.lol I am trying to figure out where to mount a hitch on this thing,I have a body on the way I plan to scale detail the heck out of it.What weight shock oil would you guys recommend for general rock bashing? http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...yschool017.jpg http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...yschool016.jpg http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...yschool019.jpg http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...yschool018.jpg http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...yschool014.jpg http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...yschool013.jpg http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...yschool012.jpg http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...yschool011.jpg http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...yschool010.jpg http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...yschool020.jpg |

Damn dude, that is one nice find!!! You would have spent at least half that for those wheels alone. Great deal if you ask me. Heck, free shipping as well. You will be happy. |
The wheels are fine. Just take off the spacers that are on there. Plastic hex http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXNY88&P=7 Aluminum hex http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXTZT2&P=ML You can use the Axial or WK hexes but you may need to drill out the center hole on your wheels. http://www.tcscrawlers.com/Axial-Rac...9-p-16876.html The green Axials have a set screw to keep the from falling off when you remove the wheel. http://www.tcscrawlers.com/Axial-Rac...0-p-16785.html http://www.tcscrawlers.com/Hot-Racin...8-p-16436.html The 645 is the lowest torque servo you can get away with imo. |
well I took the truck out today and ran it,it needs more steering. My dual rate is almost all the way up and the truck turns better in reverse than it does going forward, what gives? |
