Default Another Bronco build

I know I know ANOTHER Bronco. Sorry. Well recently while deployed overseas with nothing to do but watch a fuel system the thought came over me to build an Awesome no expense spared scale Bronco. Why a Bronco?? Well just so happens my First vehicle was a 1973 Bronco Ranger edition WHICH I STILL OWN!! It has been in my family since New. Anyway no grandpa stories here so moving on. I wanted something scale yet a little extreme looking and had to be hard top. Also wanted to include my plans for my 1:1 Bronco into the design. Rc4wd came out with the Bruiser truck kit with the 2speed R2 at exactly the right time. I started with this kit and a lot of ordering from ebay overseas and deal making for custom parts (like the top; thanks rcjeepbuilder) I am on the road to finishing it. I STARTED THIS IN MAY and just keep getting side tracked. Had to wait a long time for the rc4wd truck kit like three months. (not bashing rc4wd they are aesome they just have a lot going on right now). Anyway here are the pics and specs let me know what you think. Oh and it is in progress so things like the pins that I used for the rivets havent been cut, old marker on the body not cleaned off, tires on the rear backwards etc. please forgive me.
Specs
  • RC4wd Bruiser 2 speed truck kit
  • Diaz12 Chassis instead of included chassis
  • SCALE coil front suspension with rc4wd 110mm shocks (with dual rates springs removed) and rear leafs
  • TREX Alloy axles
  • R2 2 speed mated to a Killer transfer case (on the way)
  • Full custom interior
  • Working winch (on the way)
  • lights all around (trying to find some for markers and tailights)

Its actually made of Styrene and the top is actually light weight wood.

The round top part of the top itself I mean is made of wood.

We can never have TOO MANY great looking bronco scalers here. Great job and keep it coming. By the way the top really sets it apart from the others.

Thanks everybody. Yeah definatly have to have an Indiana charactor for this build!! I got my chassis in and a few odds and ends together on the Bronco. Just waiting on my leaf spring mounts and longer punisher shafts to get in from rc4wd and should have a roller. Then its time to strip it down and powdercoat everything. Im having a hard time now though. I have a copper body I got from 51willys a while back and have been thinking about going with the copper opposed to the white body. I will post some pics for a poll probably tommorrow. Anyway here are some updates and a sneak peak at the CR-(bronc)O-1. Oh check the spring mount on the front t rex 60. Pretty pround of that. Dunno why...LOL.

and the sneak of the CR-(bronc)O1

Default A few nice update pics

Here are some updated pics. I decided to go with a copper body I got from 51willysjeep. Its the same color I am going for when I do my 1:1 73 Bronco. Also got a pic of the old beat up cr-01. Its gotten used a few times since the first post of it. Thanks to Larsen I got all the scale accessories I need.

On to the pics

The bumpers are the Proline scale bumpers they just came out with. I took another scale bumper I had and trimmed it to fit the front one. I think i was an HPI one. The rear is the proline rear bumper with the tire carrier from the proline cage cut down to look like a tire carrier for the bumper. Where did you find a 73 Hard Body?? Is it the radioshack mangler one??

Oh yeah looks good. I think you gave me some ideas for the lights for mine in another post I had. I ended up using the hi lift roll bar lights and turned out pretty good. Nice rig. I want to get one of those bodies some day just to have.

They are great bodies simply becouse there arent many around. If you get one by any chance stretch it out about 3 inches, this gives you a advantage in uphill and makes it more stable.

Hey man!! Thanks a lot!! Yeah everything worked out great. I felt kinda guilty cutting up that roll cage...LOL. Im about 70% done now. I have done a bit more detail work on the body and put some headlights in. Time is getting harder to come by. Im getting ready to move to Japan for 4 years in July. I hope this thing is done before then. Im trying to take my time and do it right.
