Default Barbie goes 4wd

Decided to make a crawler for my daughters 10 bday as a surprise. I upgrade my tlt crawler to axial stuff so I used my old axles and trans for this build.

Tamiya TLT-1 solid axles, shocks, and link ends.
proline truck conversion body posts,
Mattel body
Traxxas Rustler rear rims 2.2 - 3672
Proline Moabs 1120
85 turn integy lathe motor
ESC - sidewinder
LED headlights - ebay
Links: 1/4 brake line and 8/32 threaded rod--
Traxxas revo large ends
Steel ladder frame and bumpers, sliders etc. 1/2" flat stock 11 gauge.
Team Associated RC10 full bearing trans and antenna mount
Traxxas emaxx driveshafts -

The goal was to build a RC jeep (4wd of course) that could still handle 2 barbies and tow a trailer of toys.

Mockup

Anyone do one of these before??

Thanks, never tried the 2.2s. I had these old tires I just needed some new rims. Just bought my first set of axial crawler bead locks! Very nice stuff.

Here is the frame.

Here is the suspension added. I may install a new axial trans and driveshafts one day. It was hard to get this 8" wheel base to work with no binding.

No. But I think I may install some wideners. There turning radius is not so good with stock tlt stuff.

Here is the front bumper.

ANd the rear one has a hitch.

Added some cheap light kit from ebay. With the original mattel switch.

Here it is finished compared to my sons titan. Same platform basically.

After a test drive in the grass.

Thanks, she never knew it was gone. The remote was a joke. Could barely drive down the sidewalk. I made it as a surprise. When ever she was not home I took the toy apart mocked it up. Then reassembled before she got home. Near the end I had to do some major mods to the shell. But the toy has been on the top shelf of the closet for some time. She never knew it was gone.

She had a hunch I was building her an RC car for her bday. But had no idea it was her own jeep.

It was a big hit at the bday party. The 10 other 10 year girls loved it.

I made my sons as a surprise xmas gift.
