Proline Tuber "Rock Willy" I recently purchased my first crawler a AX-10 ARTR. Not long after I saw a thread in which the new Proline tuber was being tested and instantly saw some potential for a fun build. I spent about two months building it in the evenings and weekends. I already see some details I will improve at a later date, just like the 1:1 scale its never really "done" 8) My goal with this build was to provide some nice details and at the same time keep the Axial chassis un-modified so that I can continue to make performance upgrades. Enough chit chat time for pics :ror: Well here it is my first scale build on my first crawler... http://i492.photobucket.com/albums/r...0323091743.jpg[/IMG] Kind of bland right out of the box, out comes the knife The first big mod was to remove the rear cage. The "excess plastic was removed and styrene was added to create additional tubing. A new cover for the RX bay had to be created, time for a fuel cell Add a little paint and it starts to come to life Next I started to build the dash The small tabs built into the dash hold it in place The ever popular Recaro cell phone seats The seats had to be cut down to size to fit Willy and trimed to fit around the spur gear and tranny Final mock up of the seats and the intial mock up of Willy Willy required quite a bit of Dremel massaging to fit the seat Willy had to get butt implants to fill the gap when seated. I used Crayola's air drying foam clay and then a light coat of epoxy. Very light and easy to paint. Time for paint http://i492.photobucket.com/albums/r...r/IMGP1557.jpg Next electonics RX in bay ESC shelf for the Rooster The finished product Finally got a chance to get some action shots. The set up needs some shock tuning, it sidehills just as good as it did with the Axial body but, exibits more body roll. Other than that it handles like a pro 8) |
