Default Scale Willys crawler buildup

I'm kinda liking the scale stuff so here is my winter project. It started off with finding the 1:6 G.I. Joe jeep on ebay as a junkyard special- no hood or windshield, etc. I snagged it up cheap and put it on the shelf for a possible "future" project along with about ten others. One day I stepped onto the tool truck at work and found the 1:6 small block Chevy. It had a couple of missing pieces so I got a good deal on it. This is going to be a slow buildup but I will post pics as progress allows.

That looks sweet... so does the tuber in the background. what are you gonna run on it? like suspension, tires, etc? Leaf springs would be cool, if it's possible. Can i ask why you brought the frame in so far in the front? looks like you won't have any room for headers that way, if you were planning on making it that detailed.

Sweet build up. But I'd have made the frame stick out past the grill more. All Jeeps have some frame sticking out to mount a winch.

Thanks guys.

Rckjeep, the front of the frame will actually sit under the "radiator". It will have a full tube front end with a winch and boner bar.

Bobbo, the headers will actually exit outside the frame rails, just can't find my heat gun to soften the plastic to adjust them.

Been looking at 1:1 willys crawlers to get some ideas on the cage. I would like to go the whole nine yards on this one, but I don't think it will turn out "great". It's only my second tuber so we'll see how it goes.

Your engine looks a little low. Awsome project. Can't go wrong with a jeep.

Made some progress on the cage, but the digi-cam took a crap, and it waited until it was one month out of warranty I will try to get my brothers camera and post up some more pics tommorrow.

Made some progress last night. Let me know what you think about it. I tried to put in an all-nighter and get more done, but when you try to light your dremel to do some brazing- it is time to call it a day .

Reminds me of Rock Spider...one of Honneger's old rigs.
