| FJ40 Bumpers 6061 1/4" Aluminum
Here are my newly fabricated bumpers! This is my first attempt at welding anything. The rear bumper was first and not as clean lookingas I wanted it, the second attempt was the front bumper and it came out a lot cleaner. I painted them white and they fit the truck well. I used 1/4" 6061 TC-6 Aluminum Rod and 1/8" x 1/2" 6061 TC-6 Aluminum Flat Bar to attach the bumper to the frame. I like this grade of aluminum because it is soft enough to cut and weld but will not bend. I assume its the same aluminum that is used on stock links. Next some rock rails? Some Negatives to help show the bumpers....the white paint washes them out in the pictures Last edited by grimgard; 09-25-2009 at 12:04 PM. |
