Default Leroy's yota wreckloose

well me and ol' leroy have been friends for many years, and when i recently built my yota and took him wheeling he had to have himself a truck, he wanted to build himself a topshelf rig right from the get-go, so i knew of an old buggy graveyard! we were walking through and his heart stopped! leroy ran over to it and knew it was the one

as fast as we got there he had whipped out the wallet and made a purchase, i just stood back and shook my head in knowing how much work was going to be done, so we loaded it up on the trailer and headed for home, we make it home and flop the thing onto the garage floor and leroy wasted no time taring into the mess of a truck

he made quick work of that "pesky" jeep hood as he knew he wanted something else!

and he forgot to take some pics but after a few hours and a few beers later we had this, one sweet ass bare chassis, look how proud he is!

well leroy just cant put this project down! he picked up a nice set of axials for this thing, he tore into them to see if all the internals were good to go, and of course they were just put a few new gaskets in there on the way out and he came up with this

of course with my expert help he can make such great time on his new found love of building and wheeling!haha

by the end of the day he had both front and rear axels done and it tip top shape for his rig.

after all this i asked him how tired he was? his face said it all lol

and here we are all the wheels and tires mounted up!whats next?!

welp got to looking and all we figured we could do was get the mounts on the axels and mount them up to her so we could roll it around the shop, so thats what we did, here leroy is getting the links all nice and straight

well guys, leroy had a few beers and started get sloppy with the welds so i said id take over, hes just learning anyhow. haha. he helped me slide the axle into position and i got it mounted up! put the new shoes on it and he thought he had done something, so he thought he'd get into the picture

so as soon as i snapped the pic i wanted to quit for the night , i told him to drop the beers and pick up some tools, he listened well and took orders(considering this is MY shop) haha, i got the rear axle under the wrecker and made it a ROLLER! i was very excited at this point and leroy bacame giddy as well, he said lets snap a "FLEX SHOT" lol so we did

and we made it back!! leroy and i went on a little needed trip to the many parks of florida! hit up some sweet coasters and chilled poolside no pics from the trip, forgot the camera, and as fast as we made it home to the shop we went, he really wants this rig done to wheel it before the weather turns to bad, well being a fan of the 2nd gen yotas he wanted to run the hood from one, i had one in the scrap bin i told him he could throw some worki into it and it would polish right up, and after a little while we came up with this

a quick test fit to make sure its going to workout or not

okay back to the tech! well yesterday afternoon me and ol leroy went out to the garage neither one of us really had the attitude to work on the rig after a long weekend of un-sucessful deer hunting, but we managed to get out there and do a few things to keep the project going... well the first thing we did was get this awesome 62PYRO plate all welded up.
leroy said this thing was a perfect fit and looks really sleek, i snapped a pic and couldnt agree more
Click the image to open in full size.

next we wanted to get the trans and motor mocked up so the floor boards could be cut out as well here he is gettin things squared up
Click the image to open in full size.

after the tranny was bolted down we took a few measurements and began to cut out the floor with the plasma(razor knife lol) and after a few trys we came up with what we think will work great
Click the image to open in full size.

well after that we thought it would be a great idea to get the dash in there and we cut and built this bad boy! got the grant wheel mounted as well as the passenger "oh $hit handle" we didnt have the guages in yet so we will cut them out and install later
Click the image to open in full size.

and leroy was excited to start to see his rig come alive abit! he threw the seat in and hopped in, he told me that this thing is going to be sick!! i couldnt agree more!

more to come
thanks for watching
