Default Komodo XL Scaler

Just saw these on CKRC. Any thoughts on these? has anyone had any experience with them, and how they compare to the SCX-10?
At first glance, i like the axles, and frame! Very scale looking.

Axles look good, they are a hair narrow then axials, open diffs, but have a pin to lock the diff, machined diff. and are really heavy! The transmission looks identical to an axial and yeah...
By the way, repost.

Does CKRC stock individual replacement parts? I know all you can get from superhappyfuntimehobby is complete axles, complete tranny, etc. If you have to buy a complete axle assembly every time you break a shaft it'll get real expensive real quick.

If you're talking about the one I think you're talking about that thread is gone now. I looked for it when I first saw this thread, it was in the 1.9 section called "My Komodo". Click the image to open in full size.

I like the look of the chassis for the most part - but given that mounting the battery up front - as far forward as is possible - has become the "norm", I'm surprised the best they can do is zip-tie the thing to the chassis. All that time engineering a pretty sweet chassis, only to come up with this as a solution for this kind of dough? Small gripe, I know, but hey - if you want to offer a complete package...
Like others have stated, I'd make sure that every proprietary part on this rig is available as a replacement through CKRC before pulling the trigger on the purchase.

Yeah, that's the one. I even looked at threads started by him and it never turned up. I see he has a blue star now so maybe he had to get that to keep the thread. Click the image to open in full size.

I was checking these out in some rc mag at the book store the other day, i Thaught they looked kinda cool. I did however see that there distributed by Happy Time, they started off bootleging Ofna coppies and i never had any luck with them, they seem verry helpful but parts are hit and miss and they never carried anything for more than 6 or 8 months. this was 5 years ago and they may have shapped up there act by now, but i doubt it.

Default kamodo

I got the 1.9 version the other day... I like it it seams pretty solid.. The thing is I had plans to mod it out of the box.. I know but look at the guys who mod the SCX or AX-10 rightout of the box right.. ?? Fist I changed the tires and wheels.. And I am putting a clod hard body on.. I am gonna see how the tranny goes.. i hear there geared kinda high so.. I have a R2 to go in... If I do that then i will just have to go brushless... after that who knows.. but for 300.00 its a great start. I also think someone otta give these trucks there on thread like the AX-10's and cliff climbers etc..

Ditto Tac. please keep us posted. I bought the regular one and XL last week. Other than replacing the motor with a 55 or 75 turn, I'm planning on keeping the XL stock as a basher. For the regular Komodo, I plan on making a scale Yota build. As far as parts availability goes, I'm about 20 miles from the Happy time store so I'm no too worried for now.

How does this compare to a scx10, or a trailfinder?

Default Komodo

ok, well here are some more thoughts. I have made a ton of changes and prob spent more then its woth but its all to my liking.. Hitec steering servo to help steering def new tires 10 tooth pinion locked the axles new soft shocks and for no reason I put my DX3R on it.. I dont think that counts tho lol other then that its cool.. basicly if you like to wrench and dont want to scratch build its a great start,,, if you want a instant rtr by a scx 10
