going for a combination of both,,it as to be scale in appearance but have some seriously adjustable articulation to comp in scale or 2.2,,im gonna make the interior removable so i can lighten it up for 2.2 comps but have the interior for scale comps

im working the chassis/cage to support a winch on a removable plate and the lights will be removable too,,the chassis meets usrcca rules for 2.2 bodiless too

im also planning on making axle trusses and skids,,and im using my inverted reversed 3 link set up like on my comp rig,,only ill make the links out of tubing with perf'd skids,,and adjustable upper links

What kind of wheel base and roof height are you looking at?

hey Ty,,the cad has the wb at 12.5,,might move it in a bit,,still to be determined,,the cad also shows it sitting at a roof height of 7.125" and a belly clearance of 3.3" which i'll lower down from that

So are you going to build some shock hoops?
how long of a shock are you going to run?

i have plans to braze in steel strips for mounts for links and shocks,,so probably some where around a 70mm shock up front and 80-85mm in the rear

the cad above is drawn with about 5.5" tires and the one below is dropped on around 4" tires...10.8"wb,,6.3"roof height,,2.6" belly clearance

Ty,,i really like the squat look of your TJ,,,and i like the longer wb with the 2.2's and maybe some rovers or similar tires,,more gc,,more stable imo

and if i go full droop i can bring it way down on the 5.5's

im gonna make a wooden modl for making the body tins,,that way i can make a raised hood panel that can get all F'd up,,and make replacements real easy

I think you should rock one of rc4wd scale tires.
I was thinking it would be cool if you took a hilux hardbody and cut all the panels apart and bolted them on to this.

Hey enough chit chat! Lets see some tube! If this has half as much attention to detail as all your other stuff, it's going to be good! Looks good so far Tom.

I got started on my 1.9 this week, check out my build thread. Looks like the Ram Charger is going to be a 2.2 now. I'll bring it down this weekend.

Hey Shon,,Thanks for the ups,,,i have been watching your build,,,im in a bit of a pickle right now money wise,,this is still in planning stage anyway,,,but yeah it will defintely be detailed,,I just went through all of Robbob's thread on his FUnBuggy,,,im definitely going for something like that,,well ok i know ill be scratching the bedliner off the frame long before it gets done.

ive figured out how im doing the t-case in the sub-floor under the seats,,,im gonna try a scale engine like Robbob's too,,,but id like to go Ford or Dodge...im figuring the 2S lipo will fit inside the radiator behind the seats,,and im gonna try to run all the wire in the tube work. I might even go for a negative grounded chassis using an isolator between the lipo and the tubework connection.

servo winch up front with over body wedge pulleys for side pulling too,,i was thinkin about doing the steering like Robbob has his,,but I wasnt sure if it would work,,but after seeing his I now know it would. maybe a small gear box to cover the input linkages and a 1:1 2 gear set up to drive the steering wheel instead of doing a second micro servo for that.

i also saw a very small mp3 player recently that would be cool to record cb radio recordings on and i have an amp circuit that could run a 1.5-2" speaker,,one thing i know for sure is if i go for all the scale details i am gonna be de-casing most of the electronics and waterproofing them,,i think ill mount the esc on the roof in a roofrack in a "cooler" or "roofbag"

ive gone through a lot of the scale threads and there are some damn nice rigs out there,,but they are pretty much the same10 or so bodies....not my cup of tea,,so i'm gonna stick with the handformed tin skins i originally planned on making,,,plus i like the idea of rock rash and torn and then repaired body panels,,heavier stuff in certain places on the rig but the main skins will be the disposable baking tins from the grocery store,,,i can easily make a mold for the hood piece and all the other panels will be formed in place

Ty,,it looks like you are probably gonna what you asked for,,a cut and paneled Yota,,I have dug out my hand carved foam Toyota 22R motor,,I still have a ways to finish the motor,,it needs to be glued up and finish painted,,,it needs exhaust, wiring, an air breather, pulleys and belts,,but I think it will be a nice touch for a scale tuber,,I'll get some pics when I can. Stay tuned.

I'd really like to do this build with the new RC4WD Yota 4-Runner body

Default 22R motor pics

Please excuse the quality of the pics,,cell phone pics are all I could get as my wife left the camera at the in-laws

The motor is done in approx. 1/8th,,it is being supported by a wire on a 2.2 Proline Memory foam insert for size comparison

Thos motor represents 9 pieces of 1" blue construction foam hand carved to closely represent a Toyota 22R motor like the one I had in my 1:1 87 Toy Pick up

Default got the motor nearly done,,but

I'm probably not going to use it,,cuz I'd like to have a V8 in the scaler,,but the motor turned out pretty nice...
