Default question about leaf springs

I want to make some leaf springs.
I got the concept and the material to make the springs. I have looked at other builds and cant figure why or how they hook to the axles.

I am using the scx10 chassis with the axial axles.

Now the questions I have are: does the leaf spring need to be right in the center of the axle? Or can it be longer in the front than the back?
The next question is to hold the leaf spring on the axle, can I punch or drill 2 holes in the leaf spring and then screw them to the axle? Will it be strong enough to hold them or do I need to do something different?
Last question do I need a leaf spring in the front as well? Do I still need the the shock with the leaf springs?

thankx

No, the spring doesn't need to be equal length from the centering pin. If it's shorter in the front, it'll have less axle wrap, at the expense of travel.
You'll be fine with holes in the leafs and mounting to axles with screws, but grinding some material off the axles, making them round for U-bolts is better looking. IMO.

You don't need a leaf spring in front, if I'm interpreting your question correctly.
Shocks should still be used, no springs needed, and a medium wt oil.
