TTC Tuber Project

2 Attachment(s)
After seeing all the crazy-sick custom stuff you guys come up with, I find myself inspired to build a TTC themed tube chassis Jeep. This is my first attempt at a scaler. Here is a quick run-down of what I will be using:

Mattzilla Customs Tube Jeep Chassis
AX-10 Trans and Drive Shafts
AX-10 Axles with SCX10 TR 4 link truss
Hitec HS5645MG
Tekin FXR/55T Crawler Combo
Spektrum DX3E
3Racing Winch
HPI Rock Grabbers (for a cut M/T Baja Claw TTC look)
Custom Styrene Interior

Unsure on shocks and wheels. I am leaning towards the RC4WD blue 110 mm scale shocks to replicate the King units, but they seem to make their way onto near every build here. I am drawn to the JConcepts 2.2 Tense, but they are a 6 bolt hub....got to be 5 or 8 lugs.

Please help me with some suggestions on shocks and wheels.

Here are a few pics of the chassis. Waiting on some part shipments to be delivered. More to come.....

I would suggest a lower turn motor like a 45t or 35t for some extra wheel speed, but looks like its going to be cool! "thumbsup"

Thanks. I have been running the AX-10 donor rig for a while on 9.6 volts (2/3 brick pack) with decent performance, but I may finally dive into lipo's for this one...

I would highly recommend it!

That's nice I can't wait to see more.

Ideas

I've seen some of those frames with some short shocks and 2.2 tires. The real monster truck low slung look is sweet. Just a thought. The emaxx big bore shocks work great.

seriously bad ass! subscribed! "thumbsup"

Lue (Mattzilla Customs) Does some amazing tube chassis work. We are currently coming out with a Bronco Tuber chassis utilizing the HPI Bronco body!!!"thumbsup"

You can always take them and paint them to look like racerunners,

Bought one of these chassis myself last week, just waiting on it to show up.
Cant decide if I wanna raid parts from my SCX 10 or hit up RC4WD with a shopping list.
Like you I havent decided on what shocks to run yet.

Doing mock up today with AX10 shocks. I will post some updates/pics soon.

transambill 02-14-2010 12:23 AM

Decided to leave my SCX 10 alone for now. Going to be the bases for a scale YJ build later.

Going with RC4WD axels and a stock Axial ax10 trans. Going for a droop set up and run 1.9's.
I beleave I've settled on a shock but still up in the air on wheels and tires.

Do you plan on fabbing boddy panels to run other than a HPI hood?

Cant wait for your updates and pics.

I thought about that....simple to do too.

Any updates?
Got my chassis but still waiting on shocks.
Got my Axial axels built and beefed up just gotta figure out the length of the lower links and 4 link uppers.

Did you ever figure out what shocks or wheels/tires your going to run?
I'm giveing these shocks a try (droop setup) if they ever get here.

I had some issues during mock up that got me going in a different direction. I decided to go with the Wreckluse chassis, just been patiently waiting till they are available. I am getting frustrated on this project. Seems like as soon as I decide to use this part or that, I go to order it and its sold out.

I have a set of Flat Irons I will use on stock axial beadlocks but I also have half a set of Mud Slingers (2 on back-order:evil::evil:) that will most likely go on RC4WD Python or Rock Ready (if I can find them) wheels. Shocks are going to be the RC4WD blue 110mm scale units (yep, them are on back-order too:evil::evil::evil:)

This is going to be a normal scale build and I am going to save my TTC project for something else....I am thinking the Axial B-17 Betty or Parma Jeep Honcho would be sweet starting points"thumbsup"

You got any pics of your yet?

transambill 03-02-2010 12:39 AM

I only have a cell phone camera so I can e-mail or text pics but cant really post them.:-(

Have you compared that chassis with a Wreckluse chassis?
My crawling buddy(turn-n-burn on here) has one and we set them side by side. The Matzilla custom chassis is almost exactly the same as a Wreckluse. The only difference is the Wreckluse has nuts brazed on it for body panels and the Matzilla chassis has some extra braceing in areas that the Wreckluse doesnt. Not knocking your choice man but it seems your scrapping the idea to build on a Chevy chassis for a GMC chassis when you already own the Chevy chassis. Get what I mean, there both basically the same thing.

Anyway, got my lower links built, just waiting on my 4-link mounts and servo mount to get here so I can build the upper links and mount the servo. Then it's time for body panels and interior.
I can text or e-mail you some pics if interested.
