| csc-1 rebirth
Well i was into r/c cars and trucks years ago and i got out of it in 2007 after building a 2.2 scale rig and now im getting back into it.....but im lost in all this brushless and lipo stuff! im redoing my rig and need some help on a setup. what i have so far is- custom scale CSC-1 frame Locked pede tranny Locked tlt axles 2 tlt shocks traxxas radio and reciever futuba s3305 steering servo narrowed rims with proline masher 2ks Now what i need- motor....ive been out the scene so long i dont know whats good, but i want something fairly inexpensive esc.....same as above front shocks????? gearing???? i have some pics that i was just messing around with it and mocked up some links for the rear and i still need to make a link mount for the uppers on the front. So any suggestions on the things i need? |

Just like any other axle, one link to both knuckles & one link from the servo to either knuckle.

No comments? anyone even remember the CSC-1 chassis'? anyway today i used some scrap metal and formed me up a link/servo mount really quick....works perfect. kinda hard to see in this pic now this weekend ill try to go to hobbytown and grab some rod ends, tubing to cover the links and some screws to mount my links up. then wait for my esc to get here and ill give her a trial run! |

That chassis looks great! Lots of great parts have come out since 2007. Looks like you have good flex. Stay with brushed motors for now. They give better drag braking anyway. Get a good ESC with a drag or hold brake. Novak Rooster Crawler ed., Mamba Max, Tekin FXR, Holmes Hobbies, etc. With a normal pede trans and TLT axles, a 45-55t motor with a 6-7 cell will be fine. Can run a 2/3a cell pack on the front rails (over front axle). Your old charger will prob charge these. Looks like the chassis was set up for a sub-C 6cell stick pack laying in front of the trans. Could stick with it for now. Lots of run time. If you want to go Lipo, can go with a +/-2000mah pack accross the rails. Need a Lipo charger and balancer though. What steering servo are you running? You'll want some power up there and some amps pushing it. Some esc's give you less then 3a BEC current, and none that I have used give you adjustable BEC voltage. Might consider running a Castle Creations BEC. Adjustable voltage, so you can bump it up to +/-6v, and it will give you 5a continuous. Lots of great parts for TLTs too! Straight axle rear lockout kits. RCP lockers. High clearance front knuckles and alum C's. |

WOW, 9/32 rod, that is beefy! My LHS has some associated rod ends that are huge, but I cannot remember what rig they are a spare part for. Sure it's 9/32? 8/32 and 10/32 are more standard sizes. RC4WD carries up to 8/32 and 5mm in their metal rod ends. Hate to spend that kind of money on something to drill out, but there is enough meat there to do it, if you have a 9/32 tap. http://www.rc4wdstore.com/2/index.ph...dc8d70076ad259 |

Mcmaster Carr carries 10/32 nylon swivel ends. $3.50ea http://www.mcmaster.com/#rod-ends/=5z9y06 Also carry alum and steel versions of 6/2, 8/32 and 10/32. These might be the Associated ones. They are for 1/8th Nitro trucks. 5.4mm balls, so by scale, it looks like 5+mm rod size. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...5121&search=Go Last edited by sweli; 02-25-2010 at 09:31 PM. |

These are the Traxxas ones that a lot of guys use, but not sure they will take 6/32. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXKMD6&P=FR Tmaxx end links will work with 6/32. Info might be buried here: ~Link Size Questions~ |
