I really like this rig!! Only thing I think looks odd is the back metal panel is black. If it matched the front it would look alot cooler I think! I liked it so much it is my desktop wallpaper now!

Thanks for the complement. I have the same problem with the rear end being black, not much I can do though since it's integrated with the tube work. | |

Not sure what it is but I still ABSOLUTELY LOVE this truck. So simple and timeless.....but I think it would look better with the tubework, chassis (and rear body panel) painted silver .

DANG!!! I'm into MOA rigs but you've just tainted the grey matter in my mind. You B*stard! Looks like I'll be doing a scale crawler too. Freaking love the FJ40 - awesome build and incredible fabrication skills !

The beating this rig took at Axial fest was an unlpeasent event for both car and driver. The beef tubes failed and front axles housing shattered leaving me with variable caster and it landed upside down in two foot deep hole full of water and got stuck. I have to say that even thought I didn't finish it perform pretty well overall and killed it during the sled pull (tons of torque and weight to transfer the power). To get it back in running status for champs it needed a full axle tear down. I decided the extended beef tubes had go for three reasons: I drilled the holes wrong and they we're perfect aligned side-to-side, they are way too heavy, and the bearings were seated way too tight rendering them un-servicable. When going back together I installed four creation-fab Delrin tubes, the rears I modified to work with XR10 rear axles and lock outs: the fronts are the new Premium tubes that are pre-drilled and go around the axle housing, nice! I also installed some Losi 4" crawler shocks that have 3" shafts and Wraith springs: this should give it more dampening, I felt the SCX10 shocks were not quite doing it for the weight of this rig. When reassembling I also threw in a Tzi winch controller to replace the switch and servo set-up. This controller works very well; high volt, nice brake, and not too big in size. I added a micro deans 4-pos connector and water proofed it with heat shrink and hot glue. Ready for champs! |

Had one last picture of the scale accessories in the back just before I left for NWSC, Proline battery and couple of Team3six's awesome tanks: |

| Re: Trail Tough FJ40 No updates but I do have a damage report from the North West Scale Champs: - Bent an XR10 rear axle shaft when tumbling down a 6ft cliff (yep C3 courses were rough!) - Bent the light bar guard during the same incident as above. No damage to the 5inch light bar even though my heavy ass rig fell on it repeatedly. - Busted a braze on the the cage where the A-pillar meets the driver side rock slider, not sure when it happened but I can only guess. It should be fixable but it will be a pain to disassemble everything to get to it. Besides fixing the busted cage and bent light bar guard I'm thinking future plans might include an update to the electronics. I won a FlySky 8ch radio at NWSC which would be sweet for controlling the dig, both winches and maybe even the LED's... |
