Land Cruiser Tuber scale buildup

1 Attachment(s)
Well I finally got started on this truck the other day. I did not make the frame, or paint the body, it has been passed around and its finally found a good home thats going to finish it in all the glory it deserves :)

I did some research, as the person I bought it from was not the original owner/builder either. I found out Kingcobra built this about 6 months ago. The last guy added the shock mounting plates and a coat of primer. Along with some messy welds on those plates... The picture is pretty much what I have now. The body is painted on the outside to give it a more realistic look thats not so glossy. Its scary to think that it is going to get beat up... :flipoff:

UPDATE: RUNNING PICS ON PAGE 3!

My plans for the truck:

TLT axles with tobee wideners (painted flat black)
Yoko geolanders
pede tranny mounted under the hood, with a transfer case in the middle of the chassis.
55t lathe
Super rooster
Hitec 945MG
Integy shocks, losi springs
11.5" wheelbase
Maybe a full interior (already have the seats)
Spare tire mount
Lots of little scale features :)
I will be adding handles and a bigger stinger and probably a few more things.

I have already started work on it here and there and I will post up some more pics soon. Im really excited about this one but its taking some time.

I don't see a picture of a wench anywhere but I love hot chicks so by all means put one on it.

Seriously though. What are you planning on using for a transfer case? I was thinking of doing that same thing with a project soon?

Thats a suprise... :flipoff: But I will hopefully have pics up tonight, ive been working since about 2 this morning and I will probably be in the office for another 6-8 hours :( So I wont be able to make much more progress on this until tomorow, but the transfer case is in, and the pede tranny is mounted (bearly fit!!) the transfer case actually acts as a 4:1 reduction as well, so with a 55t this thing is going to be slow! Im probably going to run a smaller spur and bigger pinion to compensate alittle, or switch to a mag mayhem or 35t lathe not sure yet.

And here are the seats I got for it, but mine are black with orange in the middle, they look so cool inside the frame!

Transfer case is in. Its a traxxas sledgehammer tranny, well part of it, with the yokes ok the topshaft going to the diff on the pede tranny. Worked out really well actually.

Heres some pics:

Did some mock up with the seats and a spare for fun :) Now its time to start the 4 link!

Also painted the axles flat black for a more scale look.

hey i just noticed how much clearance you gain by doing that and it has a low cog could this be the next big thing? nice work!

wrx-n-ktm 02-19-2006 05:19 AM

Wow that looks great! Any idea what kind of paint was used on the body?

If I remember correctly, Kingcobra first sprayed a base coat of lexan paint on the outside of the body, then topped it with Duplicolor. ;)

What happened to KC? I've seen a couple of his projects here with new owners. He was building some cool stuff.

EDIT: Found it.......
