dpdsurf's Skinny Jeep Buggy I knew after seeing chino's and Travis' TTC trucks with the Proline TSL SX 2.2 tires that I had to build a rig for these tires. This is my first time doing tube work and brazing so I wasn't expecting too much. I saw these buggies on pirate and used them for my inspiration. Okay I'm pretty much copying them. ;-) http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=779094 http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...s/DSC00190.jpg I first started with chopping up a perfectly good Proline JK body. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d3...p/IMG_5682.jpg Narrowed about 2" overall. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d3...p/IMG_5685.jpg I spent some time on Sunday and this evening on the tube work. It finally started to take shape. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d3...eep/photo3.jpg http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d3...eep/photo2.jpg Not quite the right stance, it will sit a little higher. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d3...eep/photo1.jpg more to come soon....:) |
Looks like its going to be a intresting build, subscribed! seems like a lot of nor cal guys are finally catching the scale bug "thumbsup" |
Very nice I'm digging all the Nor Cal builds. Are you planning on a summit trans too? I need to come back down to HT and grab some new goods |
Awesome Dave, now hurry up and get that thing finished, my TTC rig is getting lonely. |

Thank you! |
Already looking good"thumbsup" Keep up the good work |
That summit trans is pretty good size if you cam make it fit up front it may work I don't know about coupling it to the gcm transfer they do look beefy though so who knows it may work |
I think you might change your mind on the Summit tranny once you see it in person :D! So how skinny is it now? Looks good so far. |

It's about 5" (130mm) at it's widest point in the center. |
Great start......"thumbsup" Lookin good.. I like the silver and blue color combo....... but coult'nt you have gotten the blue stripes any straighter and not on the grill............:lmao: |
Thanks Mike. I know, I'm hopeless. I should leave the paint to you. The silver is only the undercoat. Can you guess which color will be on the outside? I got some more done tonight before I finally ran out of Safety-Silv. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d3...y%20Jeep/4.jpg http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d3...y%20Jeep/5.jpg This detail on the rear was a PITA. I had to do it twice before settling with this. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d3...y%20Jeep/6.jpg |
That's sick! I just read the whole pirate build and I wanna see u make some videos like they do!! Lol |
Looking good Dave, I like how the back half of the cage work looks. Is that open section going to be for a spare tire?? (probally not for a TTC build?).So, when and where is the 1st Annual Nor-Cal Scale Blow-Out going to be?? |

Looking good Dave ,and yes it's nice to see you all getting the scaler bug "thumbsup" |
I'm in on a nor cal ttc/trail challenge |
Wow!!! That is awesome man. Is this the secret weapon :) If so, it's going to be a buggy showdown for sure. Can't wait to see how this project progresses. The lines are sweet and the vehicle it's based off of is awesome. Glued to this build SlinkySam |

Since my safety-silv did not show up tonight I did a real rough mockup. The rear shocks are not ending up where I was thinking. I'll have to figure that out. Wheelbase will be stretched from the current 11 3/4" to 12 1/2". http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d3...ggy_mockup.jpg |
New to brazing Can't tell by the tubework, looks awesome. is that an SCX framerail or aprt of one anyways"thumbsup" |
