Another Wreckluse is coming to life. "The Mistress"

Well, I've been building this project for awhile now and my wife thinks I spend more time with it than with her thus the name:lmao:. It's my first scale attempt and so far so good. I finally had time to paint the chassis and start the assembly. I used a product called Duracoat. It's made for painting firearms and wow is it tough. I'd say it's as least as hard as powdercoat. It still has a ways to go but I could not resist throwing some of the panels on. It has a bellcrank steering set-up, homemade trusses and stainless links. It's going to be powered by a Tekin 35t w/ Sidewinder on 3s lipo. It'll have full interior and lights and someday it might even make it of the bookshelf;-). That's about it for now, here's a few pics. I'll try to post more as I make some progress but time is becoming scarce.

Wow, she's lookin' mighty fine! I love the bellcrank setup "thumbsup"

Very clean man, is that a servo horn you are using for the links to steer? Is it pivoting on a bearing? I have a similar set up but this looks awsome.

Thanks for the comments guys. I used a servo horn for mock-up. I drilled out the splines and put a bushing in and then made a new piece out of aluminum. Its got a bearing in it so it's nice and smooth."thumbsup"

Yeah! what he said x4"thumbsup"

BTW I have a soft spot for Wreckluses. Love the aluminum grill/plate combo.

Was that a selfmade item?

mudman1 02-08-2011 09:27 AM

Thanks for the comments, I've put a lot of time in this rig. The grill is a steel piece from The Scale Shop that is welded to the chassis. I'm still trying to decide if I should paint the grill body color or leave it the same as the chassis.

That Wreck looks awesome!

Just my $.02, I would leave the grill as is. Stock Jeeps have a color matched grill, but this is FAR from a stock Jeep.

Keep it up!

mudman1 02-08-2011 05:48 PM

It's a steel one. Every once in awhile he does a limited production of steel ones and I lucked out about a week after I bought an aluminum one.

Heres a few updated pics. I've got some of the electronics, interior panels, and fenderwells in. The rear hatch is where the battery is going to hide. Thats about it for today"thumbsup".

You add the rock sliders or did it come that way ? This one is sweet.

mudman1 02-11-2011 06:46 AM

I added the sliders. I figured they might save a few scratches and the add to the look as well.

Got a little bit done on the interior. It's slowly coming together.

Well I finally got some more done and took it outside to try it out. Surprisingly, it crawls pretty good. It's heavy but crawls ok for a big tank. I used micro toggles for the lights and they double as bitchin shifters(I stole the idea from somebody else on here but can't remember who) "thumbsup". Just need to finish the dash details and some suspension tuning and she's about done. The pics aren't the greatest but they'll have to do till we get a sunny day.

The Color Choices and build have to be one of the cleanest I have seen in a while. Nice work.

mudman1 02-25-2011 05:57 PM

Thanks, I appreciate that. I'm happy with the way it's turned out so far.
