its not to hard to cut it straight down the middle, but next time i do it im going to score the box section first before i weld bits on, it just needs cleaning up with file now.

i am going to weld crossmembers in later i had 2 days off it, learned a few things while making it (1 dont change design halfway when making it or problems later) (2 frame needs tweaking each time you send 185 amps through it) (3 only tack weld stuff on or its a bugger to remove after) pic below show how frame rails should of been marked in red, and blue is how i done them, the frame was designd to accept laydown or standup tranny, but this one is now only standup i got two more to make after this one is finished. so long as i keep the center at the required length the others will be ok. the pic shows diffront ideas i had and didnt like.

got 2 crossmembers in tonight. just got battery tray, skidplate , and radio gear tray left to do but i couldnt resist putting front axle on to see how it looks what a shock i got when i did that it was high 3.1/2 " under chassie, so i put battery on and all the other stuff it needed to run and it dropped to 2.1/2" sigh of relief, plus there still some other bits to be added like bullbar, rear bumper and spare wheel took 2 pics for all of you.

Looks great, but it's going to be pretty tippy with the battery way up there. Got any shorter shocks you can put on?

i dont get it...when will you people learn? listen bud, thats a great lookin truck! super scale..but yes its a little high...dont get shorter shocks...CUT THE FUKIN SPRINGS! why get shorter shocks and limit your travel when u can cut the springs and lower the truck but keep the flex by letting the axle droop...instead of "ride height" already being full droop.

GREAT JOB!

Nick~

well i wont be fitting shorter shocks unless i realy need to, with my old setup they worked ok and this is same but on a frame instead of 2 bits of plate the plywood mockup worked ok to but i could be wrong and i wont know untill i run it. All thats left to do is fit the body mounting tabs and spray it so i can start putting it back together, i used 12mm box section steel cut down middle so i ended up with 5mm x 12mm x 1mm C section and some flat steel plate that is nearly 2mm thick for skid plate/radiogear and battery tray.

length of frame is 425mm
width is 61mm (supposed to been 60)
height 95mm (including shock mounts)
weight 13oz (bare nothing fitted)
wheel base 12" to 12.5 "inches

still to do after tabs are fitted is, fit body then make bumpers
(but i intend to try it first before i do body and bumpers)
will post pics when tabs are fitted

the tires and wheels are off a thundertiger ssk truck , tyres have been cut for more flex they work well seeing as theres no foams in them and they used to hold it up when it weighed 5lbs with little side wall roll.
they were to cheap to turn down £3.98 for 4 wheels and tyres had them from diagostaini 1st issue 98p so bought 4 issues same with shocks they came with 2nd issue they cost a couple of quid more
