| holycaveman's scale 2.2 The Montana Outlaw 8)
Havn't posted a build in a while and since this one is alittle unique, I thought I may as well start one. I have done ttc and 1.9rs before, so this time I went with a 2.2 scale build. Tough part was being origional an still scale. I was going to do a bronco, but even though i love them, there are some awesome bronco builds that would be tough to compete with! So i found this body in the forsale section. And while i have never been a land rover fan, the size appeared perfect for a 2.2 scale build. Once I recieved the body and mocked it up, it confirmed my estimation, it was the perfect size for this build. THANKS shambrick! After I saw the shipping costs he practally gave it to me! So first thing i did is strip the body and sanded it down. Now this body is a 1/7 scale. So 5 in tires would scale out to be 35's on a landy, but i alwaus liked alittle larger tires than stock anyways. Next I started on the frame. I used 3/4 in square tubing instead of 1/2 in. Harder to bend but looks wise i think its better. So since the type of motor I have spins very fast I descided to go with losi axles flipped upside down for now. You will under stand why they have to be upside down later I went with a sort of z link rear, and a two link/panhard set up in the front. I wanted to stay away from the common crawler link for this build so i went with a boxed and pinned with bushings in the rear, and a torsion bar set up in the front. Its pretty dag gone strong. But took me quite a while. Got my super swampers in! THANKS edge087! Little agressive for this build... But i like the mud! Also started a ladder for the back. I descided to put the motor up front. Alot more difficult but in the future this will allow under the hood access and a full interior. The wb is 16.5 and with the motor up front i had to come up with a carrior bearing. I used max shafts drilled and pinned tight on all the outputs. Last edited by holycaveman; 02-14-2011 at 12:11 AM. |

Carrier bearing. Used three six mm bearings for the carrier. And also today I got my tranny mounts done. And the drive shafts hooked up. I am pretty happy so far except for the shock mounts. I think i will change the upper mounts and lower the chassis about a 1/2 in. Couple of poser shots. Thanks for checking this out! I will try and keep it updated regulary. |

Looks good so far Tom, but don't lower it. Your going to need ground clearance with that long wheel base. Also, I think it's pretty cool how you have a misterious twist to your build thread. |

That does resemble a 2-speed tranny out of a T-Maxx...

I'd go black, those wheels are sweet. I too am curious about the axles being upside down?
