Default New scale trail rig...

Finally getting around to building a scale rig to go with the 4runner (another future project). Went with a Bruiser body so the scale will be close to the 4runner. Alot of similarity to rbgerrish's courier on the frame, but I decided that I had to have a steel bumper with a roller fairlead. Although it doesn't function, it still looks halfway decent. The bumper is made from 22g sheet steel cut to shape and welded. It is stout.

Got the body off ebay(where else?) from 3 different auctions and cleaned it up. Cut off the bed cap, and painted it with Tamiya TS-52 pearl green.

Plans include an exo around the cab and along the bed, a canvas topper for the bed, winches front and rear and lights for midnight runs. All electronics are waterproofed as are the batteries.

I hear ya! My built times are normaly measured in months, I threw this together in a total of about 14 hours. Most of that time was spent on prep/paint and scrounging for parts. I will have it ready by this weekend!!!!

Sweet, I'm diggin' the Geo's. They add a nice scale touch with all of my trucks.

Jay, that looks awesome! I love the color, I may have to steal that idea for my toyota trail rig. If you need help with the cann-back let me know, I can steer ya in the right direction. Also, if you do a cann-back a MSD roof rack pkg would look awesome on it. hint hint. maybe even some MSD bead rings too, look at the bruiser on our vendor page, it looks awesome too!

Thanks, I definitely want to get a set of rings for it, might take a while to spring for a rack though (back in school, tired of turning wrenches!). Heading down to the shop now and trying to get it done for this weekend.

That looks perfect! I think a tube bumper out back would be the filling in the twinkie.

Looks great! I can't wait to start my scale build! Almost done w/ the Grunt. Then I'm on to my 1/18 scale Nylint project. Then it's on!

Got some of the exo done, also started to fill in the bed where I cut the topper off. Hopefully I'll get the front part done tommorrow. Still trying to find a way to make the exo removable to get the body off but I think I might have it figured out...

Looking at how you have the exo done there. You could braze a small 3mm bolt through the side step. Then you could drill a hole in the exo and put it over the bolt. Ansd use body pins to hold it all on.

Hope that makes sence.
