THE KEEPER my new class 3 rig I have built, bought, and sold a lot of rigs in the last couple yrs,and I usually regret doing so. That won't be the case with this one.I have packages arriving in the next few days that will have all the stuff I need to throw this thing together, and instead of starting from a roller as most my rigs did I figured why not buy everything myself as well as do all the tube work (except the sliders-thanks shon) myself. Makes it a little more personal and harder to part with. Got a package tues from rpp most of the normal parts, the r1 axles, trans and shocks are from a rig I purchased just for these items. I will have my dynamic concepts narrowed eb body Friday. I will be updating as I get farther into the build, so with that said here is the infamous " my stuff showed up!" Pic. http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/y...f/IMAG0033.jpg |
Looks like a good start. Keep us updated. |
Oh boy!.............Maybe I'll actually get to see this one before you off it.:ror: Looks like a fun build Steve. |
parting with any of my rc stuff is like pulling teeth, i hate it:) |
Ya but working in the oilfield is either feast or famine,so ya do what ya gotta do. But not this one my buddy said he'd slap the shit outta me if I do. Mounted the swampers on the gmade gt's mounted axles to chassis. But we all know what they look like so I'm not gonna clutter this up with pics we've all seen |

Yes you can in fact I will have rear steer when I'm done http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showt...ht=scale+rules |

Could you kindly post a pic of the transferbox off the skid? I mean I'd like to see where you drilled the holes. I have the same transferbox, but I was thinking about some adapterplate.:ror: |
Looks good Steve....can't wait to see what you come up with. Is this practice for the 34 Ford? |

[QUOTE=-w-designs;2998437]Looks good Steve....can't wait to see what you come up with. Is this practice for the 34 Ford?[/QUOTE THE Ford is going to be my class2 rig,or hell who knows I may get greedy and build another ttc competitor. But I think it'd look great with 1.9s. By the way how's its coming along |

Still a lot more to do will start all the metalwork/tubework tomorrow http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/y...f/IMAG0040.jpg http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/y...f/IMAG0041.jpg http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/y...f/IMAG0043.jpg |
Got the body cut and started mocking up some cage work http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/y...f/IMAG0044.jpg http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/y...f/IMAG0047.jpg |
It is coming together nicely "thumbsup" It sure sucks when you have parts waiting at home and you are out of town working. Happens to me all the time :x |
Yep, godbless the oilfield. Oh well it pays the bills |
Looks great. I dig the "hydro steer" drag link. Are you going to make hoses for it? I feel your pain on parts and projects waiting while you are away. I do it 6 mos at a time. |

:flipoff: maybe I shoulda called ya on this one too. Thanks Andy |
Got a stinger and winchplate built and did a slight mock up to see how things are looking. http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/y...f/IMAG0061.jpg http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/y...f/IMAG0057.jpg http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/y...f/IMAG0058.jpg http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/y...f/IMAG0055.jpg |
Took a break from tubework and started a little of the interior. I did a flat sheet of diamond plate for the bad area,I know not very original but gets rid of the headache of concealing electronics.the body is rough cut so don't pay attention to the lines http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/y...f/IMAG0062.jpg |
I like it, send me a PM when your coming through GJ and check out the mutant rig |
Quote:
Well got most of the interior squared away http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/y...f/IMAG0067.jpg And the little PowerPlant its small but torquey and FAST hooked to the gru I snagged today http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/y...f/IMAG0068.jpg |
You should have warned me, and I would have sent you a blem body with the other one to practice painting on.........:lmao: J/K..... The project looks like it is coming together nicely......"thumbsup" |
Ya I know:oops: Should be ordering another on soon..but then again it doesn't look THAT bad when its all together. I'll be pming you about that flattop soon |
Damn she looks good indeed! Very nicely done, cant wait to see her done and gettn dirty |
Thanks neither can I. Sooo, here's a list of shit that's gone wrong; rc4wd winch controller---didn't work out of the bag, decided against brushless and went with a mamba micro pro for size,1 min into test run----smoked. Gonna be a couple days for the new one so i decided to redo the interior with some thicker stuff made a batt/electronics box up front and bent up and brazed a dashboard http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/y...IMAG0094-1.jpg http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/y...f/IMAG0093.jpg Hopefully ill be running before the weekend, lhs was able to warranty it out just gotta wait a couple days now. |
Wrapped up the onterior, found some sweet little shift knobs, and cod pass on having the ultimate warrior drive it. http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/y...IMAG0110-1.jpg http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/y...f/IMAG0109.jpg |
So after finding out the hard way (roaching 2 motors) the hpi gru just wasnt geared low enough so buddy of mine helped me fab up a tranny mount, and threw in the gmade trans everything seems to be working better now. Should have some vid. soon http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/y...f/IMAG0111.jpg |
