| War Pig's all new '34D
Time to get going on a new rig now that Short Willy is headed east. This will be my new Class 3 truck. The '34D "thirty for d" SCX10 chassis rails, rebent with a delrin flat skid. Parma '34 Ford pickup cab Tekin Pro4 brushless short course motor Tekin RS Pro (on 3s) Axial transmission: Robinson Racing gears, Vanquish case, 32 pitch gears GCM t-case Axial axles: wide beef tubes, XR10 (chubs, knuckles, axles) Hot racing lockers, hardened gears. Hitec 7980 front, 7950 rear Quicksand winch Integy shocks: partial droop Full interior Tube bed ......and lots of bitchin' tube work and gussets. Since I'm going with a lexan body this time *cough* cough* I'll have to make up for it with some cool touches. Should be fun! Last edited by War Pig; 12-11-2011 at 08:07 PM. |

A good build with a lexan body is harder to do than a hard body build. |

Looking forward this Tim! Interested to see what you come up with for the axle trusses and how those beef tubes will be attached.

| Started to, but just the rails weighed 8 oz......you were right, too heavy. I weighed the SCX10 rails and they are 5.7 oz. After a little bending and tweaking, plus a trip through my sand blaster, I think they'll work fine. At least I'm not using the stock skid .

Sir, just knowing how nice were yours previous buildings I can’t be out of this new one!!! Totally subscribed!!! I’m sure I’m going to learn some more new tips during your new build and I like you choose an old 34’ Ford for your new project!!! Good luck and don’t forget to take pictures of the process and upload them, it’s very useful for novice like me, I appreciate it too much and thanks to share it here See you later, El Vasco |

| Already pre-sold and heading to Colorado to Tim's biggest fan I'm noticing a trend with your builds Tim; the tow truck, short willy and now this 30's Ford. You like these early era trucks. Makes me wonder about the Bronco I'm sure it will be another great build. Will be watching |

Ha! Please don't put all this pressure on me. Got the chassis sand blasted today and mounted the skid. Started to assemble the axles with the long beef tubes and I'm not sure how I feel about them. It all just fits a little too loose for me and seems cobbled together. Luckily all the stuff I ordered for them fits on Wraith axles. Yep....thinking I might have to steal some axles off my Wraith this week . Pictures to come when I actually have something to show....... |
