Yeah the chassis is so narrow there in the front and with the support bars that was the only way to get it to fit without a bunch of fab work and without the spur sticking through the hood. It also lines up the shaft to the T case pretty well.

As for color, I'm thinking the new color is going to be silver. Any thoughts?

It is slowly but surely.
Nah, it wasn't too bad just a little tight.

I had to replace the two front long beef tubes because whoever drilled them out stripped the knuckle holes.

Also got some Baja Claws coming so I'm probably going to go back to the aluminum wheels that came on the Widowmaker.

I'm also thinking about making the rear body panels out of aluminum, but I'm not decided yet on that.

Oh yeah almost forgot, I removed the springs from the rear shocks for something a bit cleaner/more scale.

Well thats some ingenuity for sure. I'm looking forward to seeing the pics of it installed with the body and all that. Silver would be a great color. Pretty much the same color as it is now with just a little sparkle in it. What kind of paint did you use the first time btw? It looks like it didn't adhere to the metal very well. I noticed it was chipped in a few places that don't really get rock rash.

The paint I used the first time was some Krylon Fusion, but I painted over the old gloss black that was on the chassis without sanding first so it didn't adhere very well. This time I'm going to strip all the paint with aircraft stripper and use an etching primer before paint.

I'm thinking of making a support bar on the other side of the chassis for the tranny for added insurance against any breakage. Should be fine but just in case.

Yea prepping is key when painting. Stripping and priming it will most definitely be your best bet for adhesion.

The support bar is a fantastic idea. I would do the same. The added support will help immensely when the trans is under load and wanting to torque out of its cradle.

I stripped the chassis last night with the aircraft stripper and since I had the day off today I decided to take it over to the powder coaters to have them sand blast the rest of the paint for me. When that was done I found there were a few areas that needed a little brazing touch up so I took care of that when I was making my tranny brace.

I gave the chassis a quick coat of etching primer and then gave it a few coats of metallic silver. I also decided to shoot a little clear on the body and it seemed to help the paint pop a lot more.

Figured I'd get a picture of the seats Norm made me for this build all together. The fronts are the standard size and the rear bench is a custom.

I am still waiting on my Baja Claws, T case shaft and to pull the tranny from my other (top secret) build over at Johns before I can say it's DONE!

Yep, still around and trying to get back into it. Got the SCX10 out and working on it. Need to update the battery package and motor, then hopefully get out to do some scale running.
