It took awhile to get up and running I will post picks and lessons learned this weekend sometime. After I made some all around cool adjustments and got the rig handling, driving, and using minimal battery power.... I started popping xvd's like tissue paper. The first one went out I though well maybe it took a shot during a tumble... However, I took the body off to keep a close eye on the electrical system and I got a birds eye view of the second one going out. The front tire was not in much of a bind at all and snap! After searching the web it seems the only options are 300's that are not being produced, and stock dogbones...? Any suggestions? I hate to have come this far, just to fail over something so simple?

One thing led to another and my first run at this ended up being a disaster. I figured out really quick the SCX10 stuff is designed for 1.9 tires. The aftermarket parts that would have worked aren't available. So I bought Beef tubes, VP XR chubs, Wraith knuckles, and stock XR shafts. Sent from my VS910 4G using Tapatalk 2 |

First the XR chubs were a little bigger (ID) than I expected them to be. On other threads I saw people drilling them out to put them on SCX axles. So I put a can to its second best use.. It added .008", years ago they would add .01", I guess times are tight. Sent from my VS910 4G using Tapatalk 2 |

While I was doing this I add a Boca Bearing green seal kit, metal rod ends, and SS screws. I had to mill the Delux kingpins down about .004". They fit perfect there is not play at all, plus they are tall enough to keep the knuckle from unsrcewing the bolt holding it in place. Sent from my VS910 4G using Tapatalk 2 |

I got tired of trying to find the right length links so I made a link jig. Sent from my VS910 4G using Tapatalk 2 |

So here it is so far. With the dig it should be able to chase its own tail. Sent from my VS910 4G using Tapatalk 2 |

I went ahead and schedualed the tube and body work to be done at the local fab shop. It will be faster and I am in a hurry to get to the best upgrade that I am saving for last. It is hard to see but it is sitting right at 4 1/4". I will probably droop that 1/4" out. Sent from my VS910 4G using Tapatalk 2 |

Thanks, I am really happy with it. I am making a jig for the steering links now. I woluld like to have you look at it when I drop it off Sunday so I can pick your brain somemore. I got the idea for the SCX10/XR/WRAITH hybrid mod from you. Last edited by MntnHntr; 04-27-2012 at 08:36 PM. |

It rook a little whil but I finally made a steering link jig for the SCX10/XR/WRAITH axles. I am using aluminum for now. While it is at the fab shop I will get some Ti links made up. Sent from my VS910 4G using Tapatalk 2 |

Got it together and ran a couple of packs through it. With the motor and voltage setuo battery life is through the roof. Everything is cool or barely warm to the touch even after a hard run. The XR/Wraith stuff held up very well at one point I wasn't paying attention and it nearly ripped a tire off the rim. Definatly needs some knuckle weights and more steering torque. Other that that it performs even better than expected. Here is a few shots before it heads off to Snipers fab shop: Sent from my VS910 4G using Tapatalk 2 Last edited by MntnHntr; 04-29-2012 at 10:53 PM. |

Made some steering adjustments to get more torque, probably will end up making longer steering arms. The drivetrain is tough with loads of torque and power. Battery life still continues to amaze me. I charged up a 2000ma Max Amps 3 cell; it outlasted me.

Moved screws out of the slots to improve strength. Also, found a Miller can that is a little thicker for the shims. It adds .01" to each side making the c's a slight press fit. I took it out one more time before dropping it off at the fab shop. Performance is through the roof by comparison. Still needs some knuckle weights and higher torque steering servos. Durability is also more than what I was shooting for. I have bound it up intentionally in several holes with no problems. With the motor I have in there I could still break something but it would have to be intentional. No more surprise breaks. |
