"Blue Crush" JK build I had a pair of axial axles with portal ends laying around and decided it was time i built a JK. If your familiar with jeepforum, then you probably know spyder6(and his sweet rubicon), well hes a good friend of mine and im gonna model this one after his new JK. "thumbsup" Blue Crush Build - JeepForum.com As of right now its a x-trail chassis, ax10 axles and trans, portal ends, 13" WB, full stock body. Rc4wd 1.9 two faces http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/d169d84b.jpg http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/1e7c858c.jpg Here is Mopar's Blue crush for more inspiration! http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g.../bluecrush.jpg Obviously the paint is going to be the cosmos blue, ill prolly build bumpers for it, |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build are you going with the 2.2s or the 1.9s to match the 1:1? Either will work, but the 1.9s are more scale. Subscribed."thumbsup" |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build The original plan for spyder6's jk was 42s, so I'm gonna stick with the 2.2s also I already have a jeep on 1.9s and the portal ends make it a bitch to get 1.9s to fit... Once it warms up a bit I'll get it painted, what's the best way to remove the gay mud off it? |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build Search around...there's a video out there on the WRONG way to remove the mud. Try youtube or google. It will really help you and prevent disaster."thumbsup" |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build Can't wait to see how it turns out |

Re: "Blue Crush" JK build can a moderator move this to the 1.9 section? I showed the jk to my buddy whos build im copying, and he said it was WAY too big with the 2.2s, so i modded the portals to accept 1.9s... also added my MTR-ks(two faces) and am working on a bumper now! http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/052b1ec7.jpg http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/0033b17b.jpg next to my crazier TJ http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/6161fade.jpg and the bumper that im gonna make http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/83686d18.jpg |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build I like it a lot better with the 1.9s |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build I like big trucks (and I cannot lie)...but the 1.9s look a lot better. Luckily, the 1.9s out there right now are nice and big. I think it looks great. Hack those fenders back and start rockin!"thumbsup" |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build Yea it seems to work better with the 1.9s as well! Bulldog, I have to give u a little credit too as I forgot u recommended the 1.9s. I'm gonna keep the fenders as full as possible, as I like how the rear tires tuck up in the fender. |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build that body gives it a nice scale look |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build I tried. The fenders just seem too stock for me. I'm a big fan of the aftermarket modded types. You'll come around!:lmao: |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build I would go with a full set of flat fenders, that would really set it off."thumbsup""thumbsup""thumbsup". |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build its gonna stay stock fenders for now... my tj had flat fenders, then i ended up cutting them all the way off, this one is suppose to remain more tame, well see how long that happens tho :D |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build This is why you don't do drugs kids! Lol http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/95e901d5.jpg A little brake fluid stayed on too long.... Oh well got it all back together and body is sanded down and ready for some paint tomorrow! |

Re: "Blue Crush" JK build hahaha yea i watched that video... and ive had good luck removing part of the dirt, but i wiped it off after a few minutes... i guess i didnt wipe very well  i was able to save it pretty well http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/0d5b4d60.jpg im gonna try to spray it tomorrow, but i was unable to find the cosmos blue, so i grabbed sail blue so we will have to see how close of a match it is... |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build I think my color choice is a little lighter than the 1:1... Well see once it is all finished tho http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/110c1c7a.jpg |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build Hey look its a smurf with wheels!!! Just kidding!! I like the color. |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build Hey now, that blue blew my retinas. Really pops out on the screen. What color is that, who makes it? |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build Haha it's definitely bright!!! I'm pretty sure it's rustelouem paint and the color is "sail blue". I'm gonna do a little sanding and then another coat and should look great with the satin black fenders, bumpers and top! |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build The blue looks sharp...a little bright, but still close and definitely different and refreshing. "thumbsup" |

Re: "Blue Crush" JK build Needs finishing touches like painting door handles and putting the lights and mirrors back on. I'm very happy with the turnout!! |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build got her out on the rocks this morning and shes looking good! http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/a11fae85.jpg flex test, they both have about an inch more to go before max travel http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/8b0e4cd2.jpg |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build i like this color "thumbsup" nice paint job! |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build took it down to the ohio river today, and got some pretty good pics, as well as some carnage. http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/061dde3d.jpg http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/1101e75c.jpg http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/6c491936.jpg and too much fun led to this... http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/2ed1a64b.jpg |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build OUCH Great pic's."thumbsup""thumbsup""thumbsup""thumbsup". |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build Paint looks great in the wild! Axle looks like it had a really bad day! What the blank happened? You've got to have some skill to snap an axle and not jack up the body:lmao: |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build Hahaha, I don't know if these portals are putting a lot of stress on the plastic inner C's or if the top screw came loose. I was climbing a nice incline and that tire was kinda stuffed into the side of the rock, and it looked like it unlocked and stopped spinning, but it had just pulled away far enough for the dogbone to pull out. 3 minutes after being home it was fixed but I think it's time to invest in some aluminum C's. As for the body, it did take a roll and did just fine! But this body doesn't seem as strong as the TJ body, so I saved the real beating for when I ran it after driving the jk. |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build i started on a bumper today... this is what i was going for: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...6/IMG_3318.jpg here is what i got (ignore the poorly bent styrene...) : http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/04d5713b.jpg http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/52e016d9.jpg |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build i was instructed that the hoop was too tall so thats being reworked, and also told it has to have the winch mount and so i ordered a rc4wd bulldog winch!waiting on that to come in so i can cut the bumper up to recess the winch! |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build bumper is all done... i dont think ill add the gussets, unless the tube starts to bend http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/a2808080.jpg http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/df973092.jpg http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/bc9da4ab.jpg |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build Bumper looks great all painted up!"thumbsup" |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build reworked the front shock mount as the front was a little too high. http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/f5990d79.jpg and now the tire tucks nicely into the wheel well: http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/f78d4083.jpg |
Re: "Blue Crush" JK build It's time to start cuttin the flares up some! Sold my other crawler so I'll be back at work on this one. |
