Default PV F100 trail rig rebuild

A couple weeks ago, I made this rig:
Scale F100 Trail Rig

It did pretty good, but the chassis was a little flimsy and needed some improvements all around. The most important thing that had to be addressed was the center tranny getting caught on everything, so I knew I would have to build in a tranny protector of some sort.

After dismantling the old chassis design, I went to work starting with the axles.

Here you can see the shaved-down rear axle with a newly center-drilled input shaft (notice the beefy 10mm M3 cap head screw). While I was at it, I beefed up the lock-out. Before, I was just using a stumpy link on each steering knuckle to lock it. It was working out all right until one of the links broke on impact, so I went with a beefier single link to hold one knuckle in place with a drag link to keep the other from moving.

Next, I started with the chassis rails.

Next, I ate dinner. It's very important to have a good tasting meal when you want a good rig:

Back to work! It is of most importance that everything is level and even if you want any kind of decent performance:

Hey, it's starting to look like a chassis:

To help pass the time and have a good taste in my mouth, I cracked open a bag of Jim Beam jalepeņo seeds. Who would have thought Beam and jalepeņos would taste good together?

A couple hours and a half bag of sunflower seeds later:

There's still work to be done, like steering and center tranny, so stay tuned for updates!

Thanks for the encouragement guys!

Update time!

It was a little too quiet in my garage so I hooked up my sister's nano to my Line 6 112 amp and I was sharing the harmonious stylings of Metallica with the rest the of neighborhood at level 3. It may not sound like much, but on a Spider II 112, level 4 is loud enough to cover over the sound of a vacuum, lawn mower, and the space shuttle breaking through the atmosphere all at the same time.

First order of business was to install the stealth tranny:

Next, I popped open another bag of the good stuff:

Then, it was on to the mounting of the servo:

More updates to come!

cvecmaxx:
It's funny you should mention the servo being crooked, it was actually crooked in the last setup and is now straight, but thanks anyway.

Update!

Chassis is done:

Here, you can see the lexan skid-plate:

Bumpers haven't been mounted yet, but I think it looks better without them:

And my favorite pic, just to complete the truck's redneck image:

Truck looks good, but just to let you know, you didn't beef up your rear lock out, you just weakened it. Those plastic posts are very fragile. I broke one at a comp. It snapped like a butter stick. I'm still using one of the posts, since I can't find a better alternative, but I thought I'd warn you.
