Hey, love your rig man, it's really great. I want to build my Bruiser for crawling, have you ever tried to take some leafs out and leave it with just one? I think than it should flex better.

Cheers.

Rodrigo.

Yep, but in the rear you will need to run a traction bar to prevent axle wrap. I was S'ing my single leafs bad before adding the bar.

Well, here is the lastest work I have done to it to prepare it for the Fall '06 Nor-Cal scale class competitions.

1. Rear axle swap for the front. I didn't like how the rear axle was wider then the front, and with the All-Pro flatbed copy it made the rear tires stick out pretty far. While I was installing a front axle in the rear, I added a Titanium axle shaft to it. I will be adding a TI axle shaft to the front in a week or 2.

I also narrowed the Mountaineer wheels down to approx 3/4" wide (cut off the inside bead) to try and keep the rear tires from rubbing the flatbed fenders to much.

I had to make a better traction bar to prevent axle swap since I use only one main Bruiser/Mounty leaf and another partial leaf for a buggy leaf setup. The bar worked perfectly in the comp this weekend, the leafs were not S'ing at all.

Then I re-did the front leaf suspension. I removed the full leafs and installed a Chino63 Half Leaf setup. This setup flex's awsome and seems to work extemely well! Thanks for letting me copy your killer setup Dean!

This rig is why I'm making the flatbed for the 350.

Wish you'd brought it to Moab.

WHolly shiat! That some serious fawkin flex Is there anyway I can borrow Chinos idea for the front end?? The Trekker dont flex fo shiat up front

As far as axle width goes, check these pics out. One of the guys over on RCMT did this for a hilux/wrangler is he is building. I have contacted him to see about doing this on my Chevy Tow rig Bruiser I am working on because I got it rolling this weekend and it looks like A$$ because the axles are way to wide (spaced the front out to match the rear)

JIA, DTP - I wanted to bring it out to Moab but I was bored with it and wanted to make the changes to improve flex but did not have the time to execute.

Unimoger made it for this rig. Like I said above, I was bored with it and wanted to slap a crap load of lights on it for a chase vehicle. After setting the roof rack on the cab for a few days I initially liked the look but then it seemed to not fit the rig that well with the All-Pro flatbed look. It made it look more like a desert runner which would have been fine with me if I didn't make all the suspension changes to make if flex more.

Dean (Chino63) is the man when it comes to making bruiser framed rigs perform. I am sure he won't mind you using his ideas, but since I did not get verbal approval from him, I did not take any close up shots of it. I would PM him.

That is interesting how that guy got the rear axle to be as wide as the front. Very cool.

Yea I am waiting to hear back from him on the narrowed axle, I know I dont have the tools or the skills to do it and I think itll make my Chevy more proportionate (<-spelling). Only thing that sucks is, after I tore my rear axle down to install bearings, I found out after reinstalling it that the inner axle is BENT and then to top it off, I was trying to get the rc4wd hubs on and they were a tight fit, so I thought I could press them with the axle nut and Striiiiiip went the axle so before I do anything I need a new inner axle as well

I am going to shoot Dean a PM now, I know he is quite famous for his Bruiser chassis builds...dude has serious skill for sure.
