Yeah, I like that one as well.

I don't want to go over board on the cage. Something that looks similar to that.

Ohh, and which Smurf are you?

THe best way i can see you doing the cage so it and the body comes off at the same time. If you have quik dissconnect at the bumper but you can have the ones on the nerf bars more permantly since there attached to thebody.

I actually received some blow ups images of the tranny which are "ok", but if there is more literature, parts list, etc, that you have quick access to, let me know. I haven't done my homework yet, so I am sure I will find a ton of stuff. I downloaded a PDF file a long time ago about rebuilding them. I need to try and find that.

Actually, I was interested in how Tamiya had it set up on the Bruiser/Mountaineer. I wanted to see how they set up the shifting and if there were any critical pieces that I was missing off of my unit. From what I see, on my unit, it isn't what I thought it would be. It appears to be 2wd high, 2wd mid, and 4wd lowrange. Doesn't seem right, but it could be.

Anyway, next week sounds good. I will PM you for more details on hooking up.

You have probably already seen the manual on tamiyaclub.com. Page 13 has the tranny info.

Tamiyaclub.com is the only place I have found any decent
documentation on the truck.

The way it works is still a mistery to me. :?

this an exploded view of the tranny. i was able to rebuild my tranny form just this view. kinda confusing but it works. build it from the front back, its the easiest way.

the three speeds to the tranny are 4wd low 2wd mid and 2wd high. but with the right tranny springs you can make it perminet 4wd. just need to paly around with some old ball point pen springs till you get it right.

also the 3 speed out of a king hauler is not a great choice for a new tranny. only because it is a 2wd tranny and a transfer case cost about a $100.

good luck with the exo cage. cant wait to see it. btw quit driving with one headlight, you can get pulled over for that.

If you really want to turn this into a crawler, I suggest checking out Thorbob's baja bruiser 4 link system on www.thorbob.com I intend on using that once I get my framerails in for my TLT crawler.

I have been busy working on the Mountaineer, I've add a buggy leaf to the rear, removed two of the leafs from the leaf packs, mounted TLT shocks, mounted a steering servo and a winch servo, and flipped the u-bolts.

I am not going for crazy flex with this truck, mostly because I can't with the leaf springs.

I am waiting on a Pede tranny, and swamp dawgs, then I can finish this truck.

Here are the pics:

And on to the flex shots:

I'm taking it with it mounted in that fashion, your not going to use the stock motor/trans?

Revobasher - yes they are TLT shocks

Gots-a-sol - No I am not going to use the stock motor/tranny, I am going to use a Pede tranny and a Lathe motor.

Pinkfloydman - Yeah IMO it looks like a toyo with a body lift. Being a ladder frame I think it look much more scale then other frames I have seen.

Yep, I will, just as soon as I get my hands on a Pede tranny. I do not want to use the stock tanny/motor because they weigh SOO MUCH. Plus You can locate the weight in the center more with a Pede tranny.

I have two sets of bruiser axles so when I snap one I can quickly swap it out and repair the bad one.

I got my Swamp Dawgs in and decided to narrow my Moutaineer rims just like you would TXT rims by just cutting of the inner and outer bead. Now I just need a set of rckjeeps 2.2 rock rings.

And of coarse I took pics and am going to whore them out.
