Haha! So I run a 3s lipo in this rig and the winch controller is only rated for 2s max. So I made a custom plug and soldered it to my BEC which puts out 6v. Works just fine and won't fry. :-) I stuck the controller in a balloon to water proof if and strapped it under the hood. I am seriously out of room on this pig. Its heavy. Weighs in at 8.2 pounds with battery. :-)

My Tundra is still a tad heavier. Its about 8.5 with the spare and battery. :-)

Even the distributor is removable

Weighs 32.5grams
I have some black valve covers too, but they wont fit between the shock towers, I figured you could trim them for whatever part was exposed...

Looking for a box now, it's sorta fragile but not really. I managed to drop it while putting the plug wires on didn't hurt the paint though, the velocity stacks stayed on too! Little thumb job and it was good as new.

Sorry I kinda fell off the planet this week, the GF's transmission went out and between orchestrating repairs on it, her being a moody... and work there just wasn't much free time

This rig did super awesome at the TTC we had this weekend. Only rig to complete the hill climb in one shot, no roll overs and nothing broke. I unfortunately was not the driver that made it, but at least I know what my rig is capable of if I learn to drive. :-)

Waiting on my scale stuff to get here, otherwise this thing is rocking. I didn't even need to use the winch I installed. Maybe I will get the cage painted before the next comp.

I blew a front CVD at the Big Dog comp last saturday. Snapped the pin in it. That's the 3rd cvd in 3 runs. I wonder if I have too much power? :-) It's what I get for running my mouth about trying to get a negative score. I ended up with a DNF instead.

Maybe too much power. You run brushless and 3 cell lipo, right?

Is it possible that dirt or grit gets in the driveshafts during the outdoor trail runs and causes trouble?

Or one other thought -- Is this something that is common to worm drive? Just thinking how they take more power to turn. So if it's hard to turn in the axle, and the motor is putting out a lot of power, the driveshaft is stuck in the middle to take a beating from both ends. I was going to suggest using a slipper clutch, at least as a temporary fix.....but LCC's don't have slipper clutches, right?

I'm sure you'll get it figured out!

You can Never have too much power!! But, Ryan have you tried using hardened steel drill bits cut Down to size as Cvd pins. I saw that in a couple of theads on here. Just an idea.

Ok, so todays project was to make room for the Speedweigand motor. That meant cutting off my tire carrier and redoing the rear of the cage. Also, time to integrate the shock mounts. :-)

I also used what was left of my tube and started the top of the cage. I ran out of map gas and tube and had to quit.

and of course the whole thing is removable. :-)

Just about got it finished up. :-)

MOre tube today and then finally got some paint on it.

I am pretty happy with how it's turned out. Its now a full tuber. I made the top bars removable so I can get the panels off if I need to work on it. I will add some lights at some point to it as well. Looking forward to bolting it all back up and running it.

Looks killer! and for the record it's an 1800cc 1974 super beetle motor I even looked up the firing order.

In case you didn't notice, it's got internal cage too. Basically I built two complete cages. One inside and one out. :-)

I saw a YouTube video once where a guy built a cage for his RC crawler like you did. He drove the crawler in his driveway and in front of his 1:1 pickup. Then he drove his pickup onto the RC and parked it for a minute, then back off.....then drove the RC some more.
