Default gorgo's Aussie TT Tundra

Hey guys, i've been wanting to build a Tuff Truck (Aussie Top Truck style comp) style 2.2 for quite a while now. But didn't to a 40 or jeep, or anything common over here. Seeing as i'm usually a fan of yankee iron, and i don't have a welder and minimal time at the moment doing a 100% scratch build was out of the question. I stumbled across a Tundra for sale on here, which already had the tube work done and the body work started (by desert RC) . Perfect! A deal was struck and it was shipped over. Got it with diffs, tranny, shafts. etc. virtually a roller minus wheels. Here's a few pics of Desert RC's build before i got hold of it.

Once it landed the first thing i did was chuck on the 2.2 rok lox that i have had sitting here for a while. Then changed out the shocks for some 3 racing's i have had for ages out of my old comp rig (setup for semi droop). The alloy cased HR tranny went in along with the MIP shafts, and alloy knuckles and C's on the front. For the moment the steering servo is a turnigy 767HV, if it dies a spare 7955tg will probably go in.

For electrics it's a MM Pro , Novak 13.5 turn balistic, CC BEC, a TZI duel RX bypass harness.

Next up was a vanquish dig seeing as i'm not intending to be running rear steer (unless i modify the chassis to fit it). After spending a considerable amount of time filing the tabs down on the HR tranny the dig finally fitted, then bolted the tranny in to find the shift lever on the dig was hitting the skid

Planning on doing as much of an interior as i can possibly fit whicle still having the central tranny etc. More pics to come!

Clean rig! I like it

A lot of the guys in my club run that motor/esc combo and it seems to perform really well.

Thanks guys. Highmark, yeah it seems to be a popular combo. A friend of mine over here is running one in his truck too. Just contemplating changing the motor to a 18.5 turn and running 4 cell

I got a little bit further with mounting the body / interior... not much but it's a start. I think i'll look at making a mini servo bracket for the dig too... not really liking the dig servo sitting out behind the cab.

Hey i recently got a VP Hurtz dig also, same problem. I just ground the side of the frame off a bit and it works perfect. Best 93 bucks I've ever spent. You'll love that dig. Smooth, no binding, american made quality.

Well it's been waaaay too long since updates on this between the wedding, dislocated shoulder etc etc etc. It is now officially a runner, with the body mounted. The mini servo mount for the dig arrived so got that put in and started to put the rear of the cab on and blending it in. Came out ok so far. Still needs a good tidyup though. I didn't get many pics during the fabrication of it, but hopefuly the pics give a hint to want went on. With the mini dig servo in, it's still a very tight fit.

As you can see the dig servo only just fits.

Got the winch stickered up

Got the lighting system plugged in and working

Thats a Gear head LED light bar adn the axial lighting system. Still trying to figure out how and were to mount the lights...

Hiding all those electrics while still haveing an interior might be a bit tricky.
And to cap off this update. A few flex shots

Still have to fit out the interior, possibly make some seats becaus the Axial ones i have may be a little wide to fit. Considering a RHD conversion, mount the winch, and lights. And figure out a paint scheme. If anyone has any pointers or suggestions, i'm all ears.

Thanks Bulldog ,I got a bit more done over the past couple of weeks. The body mounts are now done. I have an alloy angle that is bolted the the schassis rails, with bolts running through the angle, through the styrene floor and into the styrene brace with nuts cut / pressed and glued into it. So far it seems pretty good and sould hold up (fingers crossed).

I also started mocking up a light bar mount. Still not sure if I like it. It stll needs alot of tyding up / blending in. What your thoughts?

Also made the electrocins tray... well for most of the electronics. The speed controller wouldn't fit under the bonnet. :( So it's getting tucked away in the rear left corner of the cab just behind the motor.

I think i screwed up somewhere though... it's not centered between the shock towers.

Got a bit of the interior done. There won't be much of an interior though it's more of a cover for the motor etc. Not even sure if i can fit in a driver.

And how it stands now... well until the new king shocks arrive!

I'm working in the same thing with my tundra truggy. I'm going to sink the light bar down a little lower and mount it to my interior roll cage to minimize rollover damage. I'm using the maddogrc one. It's taking some figuring, but it should work out. I like the body mount idea coming from the bottom. Sharp thinking there! Nice progress!

Another small update.

Filled in the front guards a little, i didn't think it looked quite right having such a sharp corner just behind the wheel

I got the false floor in to hide the remainder of the wireing

And the shocks arrived.
