Default Scaleready's TTC Tundra Build

I have been on the hunt for a Tundra body for a while now, and finally got one! These things are huge!
I am shooting for about a 14.5" wheelbase for this one. That is what I found to look the best under it. For axles, I plan on using a set of wraith axles possibly or a set of 60's. I am going to have a lot of time into building this chassis. Power train is yet to be determined. I am going to be making a "truggy" with an exo in the front.

On with the pictures:

I was saving this tire and wheel combo just for this body. Now that I have the body, I realize they are going to be too small for my liking. They look good, but I want bigger!!

This is more like it Still not big enough....

Now we're talkin!

I went ahead and tossed the yellow lenses inside the headlights. I like the look

More to come.....

Guess who has some wraith axles now!

I shouldn't have a problem with ground clearance now.....

I do not know what make these shocks are, but they are huge and perfect for what I need

Now I can finally start building my frame and getting this stuff put under it, so I can have a roller. From the back of the cab forward is going to be frame rails, but from there back, will be all tube. Some exo in the front, sliders, door bars....the norm, just a little different. These Tundras have an aggressive look to them naturally, so that will play into how my tube work gets built. All in all, it will look mean as hell

Now I have some free time(barely) again to get back to work on this thing

This is my FIRST attempt at building a c-channel type frame, so bare with me.....
The small cross braces are just to keep the dimensions while I build it. There will be crossmembers and so forth as it gets built. The one in the front is permanant though.

Now that I got my frame built, I need to position the front axle under it. I am going with the 3-link design, so I can mount my servo on the chassis.

Alright. Now my front suspension is done, minus the whole shocks part, but whatever...

Time to get my servo up on the chassis, so I can locate the drag link and panhard bar.

Thanks!
I have only got a few days to make this thing a roller, before it is going to have to sit for a little while. Is it possible?? So far, this is what I have accomplished today.

The paint color I left completely in my sons hands. He is 4 years old and his favorite color is green, so naturally he chose green. I can still pick what shade of green though I am contimplating buying a set of white or silver hilux body decals and putting them on it. Give it that old school scheme. Still up in the air though.

Not a whole lot of progress today. I got some shock towers welded on panhard mount on the frame, and drag link made up.

Next I need to figure out whether or not to ditch the factory truss and build a new one w/ a built in panhard mount, or just figure out a way to incorperate a panhard mount on the factory truss.........

I was stuck on the panhard mount, till I visited a few sites looking at what their solutions were. I really liked the way VP did their mount. It basically clamps the axle tube and has the mount as part of the clamp. I really should just buy one, but that's not how I work... I will build something along the same lines.

Overall, I am pretty happy with how my panhard mount turned out. Might not be the prettiest one, but it definately serves it's purpose.

And installed:

From the back of the axle:

You can see in this picture that I didn't lose any ground clearance with it either:

2 things I might suggest, lean the mount over about 1/2 way from where it is closer toward the knuckle pivot point and run the screw for the clamp from the bottom up with the bolt on top. Other than that it looks awesome, great job so far.

Threw a panhard bar in there real quick to test it out. I gotta say, it works flawlessly

The suspension can cycle however it wants and the steering doesn't move a lick

Ride height:

Fully compressed:

Fully drooped:

Close up of it compressed. You can see, it has no interference whatsoever.
