Default New to this Scale RC. Here is my Excursion Bruiser in Progress

Hi everyone I have done some updating to my project,
Hey everyone, such a tough crowd here so I thought I would show some more progress pics of my Body that I have been working on. Smoothed out the Cowl Induction Hood, frenched in License plate and reworked the rear door to have a slight slant downward like the original Excursion pic that was posted. Just to let everyone know it is sitting at right around a 14.5" WB so it isn't as long as it may seem. As well I have my Axels that I will be using now and pulled out all the old brass bushings and replaced them with all new sealed bearings as well as in the Hubs.

Next project is to cut the original grille out and put in a horazontal billet grill insert.

My Plate is blank the prison inmates were on strike when I received my plate by accident. LOL

Let me know what you think, Good, Bad and the Ugly. LOL
Thanks for taking a look.

Not sure if they make one or not. I bought a full Tamiya F-350 Juggy body that came with everything and 2 F-350 shell bodies and a Juggy Cap. Then a lot of PVC Weld, Epoxy and reinforcement on the inside so she doesn't come apart.
Then time and patience with the slow cure epoxy and bondo to get her back in line with all the door lines and window trim lines.

Default Frame

If you want you could get a Diaz Design frame built to your spex 4-link or Leaf spring design. I have one and it's awesome.

Guess you haven't seen all the threads then. I see many new guys post in this section and the olders guys usually type out the same speach, go to the vendors section and try the Diaz, BB-51, or CSC chassis. Maybe something along the same lines should be made a sticky for "scale newbies look here" or something.

No doubt... just go buy 2-3 bruiser chassis and cut/weld them together to fit. That's be the best method in my book, or just make your own.

I could see that body as the perfect limo style F-350/Excurision. Move the rear doors to the far back and it'd make it killer.

I actually just looked at the CSC-1 and that is one very awesome looking Chassis. So maybe you could take a look @ one and maybe become his customer.

It would be to long if I was going for the Excursion like you have in the pic. However I have sit in the back in the 3rd row and still feel crampt. Being 6'3" doesn't leave much room in this vehicle either. So if I could afford a scale one I would have it stretched. I am an old car audio buff as well and have seen some stetched Excursions with full stereo systems raised up but of course they were all show and no go.

Thanks though for the PIC I have been scanning Ebay for pics of them.

No criticism intended (the bodywork looks killer) but an 18 inch wheelbase is going to get hung up on just about everything. You can correct it easily enough (sort of) by turning the rear quarters around so they match the pic of the blue Excursion, moving the back wheels forward. That'd get you down closer to 14 inches, still long for a 2.2 but a lot more workable, and the body would look more scale as well.

With that said, the execution of the Excursion is exceedingly excellent

Quicky photochop, see if you think it looks better:

I've got to say that the bodywork looks to be of outstanding quality. I've seen lots of mediocre at best styrene bodies under awesome paintwork. It makes me cringe.
It does seem to be a bit long, but what do you plan on doing with it? I actually see some trucks around on the streets that appear to be quite similar. Way up high and very long, some even with l-o-n-g 4-link setups. They obviously never touch the dirt or even a rainy day becuase it'd take a month to clean all the chromed and painted/polished stuff from the tirespray in the rain. If you're going for one of those street/show trucks, I think you nailed it!

Havent you guys ever seen the Centurion conversions?

They used to take 2 door Ford Bronco's and make them into 4 doors, they also could take a 4 door F350 and mold a topper into the cab to make exactly what Eviltwin is making. I think it looks awesome, there's alot more work in that than I'd be willing to do.

Excursion looks great. A bit long in front of the wheel wells, but who cares. With a body like that the end result should be amazing.

MY CSC frame rails are .5" tall.

Scale that up (using a 1:10 ratio) and you get 5" frame rails...which is the EXACT size of the frame rails on my Z71.

For your 12" frame rail idea to work, the CSC rails would have to measure 1.2"

When used with a Bronco body which is 1/8 scale, they are 4 inches tall. Exactly what it is on my Bronco.
