| A buggy called Elmo
I love this single-seater buggy. It looks so capable with it's low and wide stance! Trenton at MG200 will be building this frame for me, and I will running Wraith axles and skid. Specs: - MG200 Elmo chassis - Wraith axles with VP chubs and universals - Wraith skid - 100mm rc4wd ultimate scale shocks - Trans from either my wraith (32p), or my Heavy Duty R2 trans (not concerned about top-end, I just want this to perform the best it can at slow speeds) - CAC 2.2 ez locs I believe salmonfacesalad (and ecoli) built one of these a long time ago using scx-10 axles, so this will be a little different. | re: A buggy called Elmo Yeah, I discovered your build in my google search for buggy pics! I was like, "damn!", j/k. Looked good, sorry about it's loss. Not much online about this buggy, no build thread, no body off shots, no video, etc...

Well, Trenton (MG200) just shipped out Elmo and I have to say, he was a pleasure to work with, has a great eye for detail, and was quick! What I really like about how Trenton built this is, look how proportionate those Claws (5.75") look to the rest of the body and axles. It doesn't look like a 2.2 monster truck build, but more of a scale 2.2. I can't wait to start building this up. On to Trenton's pics: |

I remember that buggy, cool little rig, sucks that someone stole the one I built for Richard. Trenton did a nice job on your frame. What are you planning for the hood?

| re: A buggy called Elmo Not sure about the hood yet. I will have to get it infront of me to see. Possibly there could be a comp body I could cut up, or maybe just the good ol lexan and a vice. Maybe som 16ga aluminum. I don't know, gotta measure.

Well, finally got to work on this bad boy. I must say, Trenton is really a master builder. Everything is straight, geometric, and perfect. Trenton made several mounting bars, for a wide variety of placements for trays, and electronics. Thank you. Makes everything a little easier. On to the build. The Rockware buggy was sold recently, so I am not going to do an exact replica. It will be an Unlimited WE Rock comp buggy based on the "Elmo" frame design. Just to be clear. I decided to go with my heavy duty R2 trans for simplicity. It sits low, I can easily build a floor plan around it, and in reality, I have never had a problem with this. This will not be a basher, more of a technical crawler. Drilled some new holes in the skid to accomodate. Also I think this is where the electronics will end up (never know, it's a long winter). I knew I wanted this to be a rear engine, but the ones from Toy's R Us, are too small. So I gathered a few parts, and made a new block out of sculpty clay. Pretty crude, but after it's hardens in the oven, it can be painted and glued. Yes, I know this is not based on a real engine, it was just parts I had laying around, and some free-time.. It gets the feel of a big beefy engine. before: After: Placed in the rig: The floor plan is a super simple pallet to start with. Since this will be a single seater, I think I will have a lot of space for creativity. Figure will be bent, and painted for a more "comp" look. Nothing against cops, or T-1000s, but a good driver sets these off. |

Thanks for the comments guys. Elmo is siiiick! I was a little too late on the team3six seats, so I attempted to make my own. It totally sucks compared to Norm's. I used a harness from an old action figure that I had laying around. The driver is pretty secure. We will wait to see what happens during a good roll-over. |

Here is a link to a scale harness Sabelt Seatbelt Harness Kit - *ScaleDetails Website. Your seat looks good. Trenton does make a nice platform to work from. Looking great! |
