Picked up an ungodly cheap emaxx shell, and made some new skins. The MMP and 13.5 combo on 3s seems perfect. I am running 58/14 gearing. It probably tops out near 15mph, which is totally fine with me. It's plenty fast for a scaler. She crawls really good as well with a custom throttle profile in castle link. Got about 2 hours on this today to shake the bugs out, and I am super happy. Prefect dual purpose rig: |

| Re: A buggy called Elmo Thanks. It is a challenge if you want an interior and full driver. And it doesnt help that it isnt a full-boddied rig. Not many places to hide. Just helps to stare at it on the workbench for an hour and play with different set ups. Last edited by tedo; 07-28-2013 at 06:01 AM. |

A little update. I made a new battery tray to fit my 3s 2200s. There was so much space above the rear upper links I hadn't utilized. Now it used. I used every spare millimeter. This is at fill compression. Tons of room. Maybe 4s? Gone! Also got the r35 BFGs! These tires rule. Super sticky, and super scale. In my opinion, these really round off the buggy look. The tires climbed everything. I also stuffed them with CI dual 5.5 inch foams with medium outers in all 4 wheels. I ran the truck for 1/2 before my 2 year old started freaking out. I plan on doing hours and hours of testing tomorrow. |

I like them a lot. I bought the 100mm and shaved off the faux resivours for a cleaner look, and filled them with 1000wt diff fluid. They have never leaked as of yet, and I have about 20-30 hours on them. My buggy is pretty light as well. I am pleasantly surprised how well they work (and look). | |

These tires rock. 3 hours in and holding a bead awesome, and can practically climb a vertical wall (not really, but close). Went to the damn today, and ran them in wet, dry, muddy, and sandy conditions, and they are flat out the best looking / performing tire I have ever used. Axial hit a homerun. I also like that these are slightly smaller then 5.5 inches. They don't look unrealistic and monster tuck like. Sorry for all the pics. Super excited about these tires. |

Wish they would make a 1.9 version of those! Those tires look great on that rig! |

So I picked up some VP KMC Enduros, and some new Treps. I really like the size of these. They are a little taller then any previous tire I had on this rig, and I really love the squareness. These are true dual purpose tires (used in both Ultra4 and WE Rock). Using the 225 hubs for the narrowest track with. I have to say, I really struggled mounting these tires to the wheels with my CI DD 5.5 foams. They are the new versions (no longer wide or thin options). After spending an hour on one wheel, I said to hell with it and stuffed the tires with the stock foams. All 4 mounted in minutes. I have no idea how people are stuffing the CI foams on the new .8 methods. Also, the r35 compound does indeed seem different. They are still really sticky, just glossier, and a little firmer. So I went out today to test out the new shoes, and the buggy did fine. The tires do hook up great. The wheels look awesome. Really no performance gain or lost from previous set ups, just an aesthetic upgrade. |

I just mounted my treps on my methods this last weekend. I used a 5.25 CI foam and had the same issue. Mine were the comp cut foams and after about 2 hours of failed attempts and head scratching I finally broke out the scissors. The foam is channeled on the inside, so I just cut the inner foam down so it no longer flared out. They mounted right up. This rig is soooo sick man. You build some of the baddest trucks I've ever seen. |
