| My Woman’s 2.2 Custom Chinese Build.
After building her the Wt01 basher, trailing and her driving the silly FY03 she started mentioning how cool the “4x4” and “brakes” are. The Blackfoot runs like a beast, only limited by the rwd. Thats her problem a.t.m. So, with me waiting on spares to come for my D90 build and sitting with the HG parts I started messing around with a layout (plan) to get these things mounted to some sort of chassis. She likes the Tamiya Amarok body and told me she wants something that can go anywhere and drive over anything. Better than the BF. Lol. This gives me a body with a 260mm wheelbase, 2.2 Badlands and the HG drive gear. The chassis has been cut out of 3mm alu. Big McGuivers to get that gearbox mounted but its on and seems like its gonna work. Shocks are Tamiya Tgm Alu with the soft springs. This rig will be an experiment with parts from all my leftovers. Gearbox has an used Mabuchi silver can with the smallest pinion on it for now. Will donate my 1060 to her too... All I have to figure out still is how to mount the servo on the chassis, shock mounts and the lower 4-link points with some sort of skid. And stiffen the frame a bit more. We will see in time. Got more HG axles on the way because of how cheap they are. Anycase... Let me post the pics that inspired the Woman to go with a big wheel Amarok: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Done for now. I think... Wheelbase at 261mm. Might need a stretch again. Waiting on the shafts, servo and horn to rock up. That’d be another 5 weeks. Wheels will be off the Tamiya CR01 FJ40. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

NICE!! I have a HG P402 also. I would never say it's a G6 Rig..... Hell, it's not even a G0.3 !!! :P The Gearbox is a bit Stronger than you'd think. The Axles are even half decent. I wouldn't run Anything hotter than a 25 turn Brushed. I've been looking into 4-link conversions for it. Most not worth it, for what the Truck is worth! Did you actually use a Traxxas Ball End, to make your Wife's 4-Link??? I'd definitely do that! Looking great so far, can't wait to see more. |

Traxxas ball ends all the way! Lol. The McGuiver 4-link seems to work ok on the table. Hardly any play. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Another step closer. Shafts seem ok for the cost. Will see how they last. Now its just some Tamiya beadlocks, a servo and the body. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Testing the build a bit. Using whats available for now. A bit top heavy with the high lift. Side hilling might be a bit of a problem. Might just add weight to the wheels, but at least the body will be lexan. Other than that it climbs pretty good. The high clearance should be awesome on trails. The speed is actually cool! Didn’t expect the HG gear to be this smooth either. I’m actually excited to finish this one and get it out trailing, soon! So after having a fight with the big tires hitting the shocks when turning full lock I got fed up and took some measurements and sent a cad to get cut. This is the final build on this chassis. Yes, CR01 inspired. Still using random Tamiya parts with the HG drive gear. It runs nicely. Better than the previous attempt. Just waiting on the Amarok body to pitch end of July. Also added 12mm hex wideners. Inside of chassis rails sit at 55mm. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Your Amarok is Cool! I like how you did your own thing and built a very unique vehicle. We don't have VW Amarok vehicles here, but I would sure like to see one up close. I've had many 1:1 Volkswagens over the years, starting with a '57 beetle way back when. But I digress... Congratulations on completing your project! You've done well! |
