Default -Texas 40 part deux.....FJuggy-

Time to build a Class3/TTC rig. I was fortunate enough to score a FJ40 that I built for eric113 a while ago through some horse trading for another chassis....coming soon.

The original build was based off a SCX10 with a Proline Bushwaker body and R-1 portal axles. Fast forward to today, it now has a stretched Nikko FJ40 hard body and AR-60's. Chassis will not get much if any changes, accept for a good bead blast to remove the rust from the Texas humidity.

Specs for now.....
Chassis:
- SCX10 based
- 3/16" rod for tube work
- Custom metal battery/electronics box

Body:
- Nikko FJ40 hard body (Trailblazer)
- custom styrene

Wheelbase & track:
- 13.75" WB
- 11.5" outside of tire track

Suspension:
- Custom trusses
- Custom CMS
- R2j 1/4" stainless links
- Proline scale shocks (for now)

Axles:
- front AR60 with
36/14 HD gears
Axial universals
Aluminum "C's" & knuckles
RC4WD ARB diff cover

- rear AR60
43/13 HD gears
straight axle (current)
Axial universals (future maybe)
Aluminum "C's" & knuckles (future maybe)
RC4WD ARB diff cover

Wheels & tires:
- LockedUp RC 2.2 Rock Cutters SLW compatible with
Agile rings & scale screws
- 4-40 Acorn nuts coming soon!
- VP 225 SLW hubs
- Axial R35 2.2 Ripsaws

Trans:
- Stock Axial SCX10 (for now)

Electronic:
- Holmes BRXL ESC water proof
- Holmes 20turn Pro
- Airtronics 94780M for steering
423 in-oz @ 6.0v
- Castle BEC
- servo winch
- custom 12volt LED lighting

Thank Paul! I'm going to bead blast it and then clear coat it.

Added a stinger thingy, one more bar in the center of the roof and some more support from the sliders to the shock towers.

Nice work R2j!

Are you going to add other body panels? And trick out the interior?

Cheers,
Doc

Thanks Doc!

Yes, there will be more panels and I'm leaning towards turning it into more of a 45 with a cab back since there is a nice space between the cage and the electronics box. And yes plans include a detailed interior. This body came with a pretty cool dash and neat looking old school seats.

Toyed around with it a bit yesterday and not really liking the 45 concept, so I think I'll stick with the same layout as the PL body. But with no doors.

Should get started on that soon.

Yea, I had made up a test piece for just the cab back but didn't like the look. Plus I will most likely not run any sort of roof panel.

Thanks Neil! No roof for the win I didn't even think about the wheels being on your FJ until after I ordered them. Oh well, you can never have too many bad ass FJ's running around with bad ass wheels.

Small update, added some down bars to the rear and since the hard body is cut less in the wheel wells, I needed to extend the sliders as pointed out in an earlier post.

Man I just love your work. This yoder is mean. Also...I am really digging the surface rust on the cage and the weathered body look.
