Default JHTreyIII's Rock Rat Rebuild

So I purchased this chassis from Trenton at MG200 the other day! I figured I'd better start a thread for it!

You can see his build thread here: MG200 Designs - C10 Rock Rat

First thing I did was sand blast it to get a couple layers of paint off it.

He sent a body with it. I'm not sure how I'm going to handle it yet. I may stick with the dynamic concepts K5 body or I may find a way to modify my aluminum wraith panels to fit it.

I've decided not to repaint the chassis. I'm a big fan of the rusty look so I put it out in the back yard where it will sit for a couple weeks turning into a big rust bucket! It's going to look awesome! I just have to decide what body panels will go best with the rusty look.

Nice score. I remember that build and thought it looked mean! Interested to see your spin on it. Keep us posted.

Thanks guys. Don't worry Dynamic, I ordered another K5, just with a cowl on the hood. I have a real '72 K5 at home so I'm partial to the body.

Sprinkle some salt on it. It will start rusting faster!

Right! I just want it to hurry up! I love that truggy! Its one of my favorites on RCC (I've probably said that 10 times now, ha). Yeah you probably don't see too much snow in Killeen. Although, I was in Dallas in December and it snowed there before it snowed up here this year! I know you're a couple hours south of there though.

I picked up a new K-5 body with a cowl, it's going to look really good. I also found some Tamiya "Gun Metal" paint for the body. I'm thinking I can back it with silver and get a really dark gray/silver look.

Can't wait for the rebuild. That chassis is sick. Rust is like whiskey, takes time to get it right..

Waiting and waiting...dang whiskey, oh I mean rust is taking too long! Got the main drivetrain ready and waiting!

I think the rear links are fine but the front ones are too long causing the axle to be too far forward. What do you guys think?
