| My Scale Bruiser **New Pics on Page 8**
This is my first Bruiser and I've always wanted one, ever since I first seen them some ~20 years ago. I picked this up last december. One of the first trucks I fell in love with when I discovered this site was badger's Toyota Flatbed. So, as you can guess, this will be a replica of his. I don't know how close I'll come, but this is what I'm shooting for. When I originally disassembled the truck, I found that the frame rails were a little tweeked. I just let it sit for awhile, hoping it would staighten it's self out. After seeing all these Bruiser builds, I decided to get start this. I put the frame back together & just used my hands to straighten out the rails. I also came across a deal I couldn't pass, so now I have a mounty roller too. Thes are what I have to work with. I need to pick a frame & start. Right now I'm going to start with the front axle swap & rear leaf set-up. Progress pics tomorrow. badger, thanks for the help so far. I know I'll need much more. |

Started putting my HL together with a scale build in mind. A good friend looked at what I had done and said "I have an extra bruiser frame you can have". My plans suddenly changed. The last two crossmembers were jb welded in and I wanted to do a back half truck anyway so the HL axles and tranny will be about all I use. I will be watching this thread closely!!! |

Thanks fellas, this will surely test my fab skills. DJ, if I can be mentioned in the same breath as all of you, it will be an honor. Yup, Mike I think this is the one. Him happy, me happy, all is good. On to the progress. I was able to finish the fr axle swap last night. I chose the bruise frame because since it already had paint on it & the mounty is nice & bare, so I'll just save that. To inboard the leafs, I just did the same thing that badger did. Also swaped out the fr hubs w/rr hubs. Mounted some Geos but I still need to narrow them. I like how the fr & rr are even now. Here's a shot w/the body on. It's seems kinda high, but it's just for mock-up, it'll change. Today I'll remove the jugg springs in the front & mounty springs in the rear. I'll be putting the single bruiser leafs in & trying to make the rear lockouts. BTW, I already have the diamond plate comming. |

Got the single Bruiser leafs in. Also did chino's leaf mods. Now it's all soft & floppy. Now when it flexes the tire rubs the frame, I'll need to narrow the backside of the rim alot. Didn't get to the lockouts, maybe tomorrow. No new pics, it looks the same except with less arc in the spring. | |

Sounds like a smooth build so far. Do you have the 3-speed with it?

Shouldn't be a problem, I had my situations mixed up, if you flip the axle it'll be wrong, not if you move it front to back.
