Default My ifs ultra4 racer

The inspiration for my build was the 2010 Dorkstar Hybrid . I still find this is one of the greatest builds ever on rcc . Here is the link to the original build 2010 Dorkstar Hybrid . My build is not as technical compared to the original but I decided to give it a try . I hope you guys like this build thread and credits again for RBgerrish for the original idea .

Fist thing I had to do was transforming the traxxas hub carrier to fit the original wraith wheels

Next was cutting the Slash 4x4 chassis in half and dremel the chassis to fit the wraith tranny

Then start to make the bolt on chassis cage

our cat Chuckles found it very interesting

Had some sway bars laying around

Made a skidplate

Cage finished

Painted and ready to roll

Tomorrow is test day .

Specs for now , original 20t motor on it with a tekin fxr esc . Trail arms are from a twin hammers . Savox servo . Waterproof spectrum receiver . Slash 4x4 front end with locked diff , wraith tranny with metal gears inside an wraith rear axle . Gonna switch to brushless power soon . Hope y'all like it

Great looking rig , just wondering how the diff gear ratios match up ?.
A slightly overdrive front would be perfect but under drive front would cause some handling /steering issues.

The maiden test was ok . But indeed i have a steering issue . The servo is strong enough but all the steering power is absorbed by the servo saver of the slash front end i think . Next week i am gonna put the brushless power in it cause this thing is screamin for some extra power and speed . But overall , the maiden run was more then ok . Thanks for the possitive comments guys . Video of this hybrid coming soon

If my goggling is right, the ratio for the front is 2.846 and the rear (stock) is 2.923, so that means a 0.077 overdriven front. Not bad at all!

Simple yet awesome. What body did you use? I think I missed it.

Were you going to try a front sway bar? I run a front and rear sway bar on my 2.2 Ultra4 and really like it with light shock oil. IFS is a different beast, hence, my question.

Also, what is your belly clearance like?

...

The body or whats left of it is a concepts bajr body . I 'm not gonna run the sway bar in the front because the front is more flexible without it . The belly clearance is now 6,5 cm but I can get more out of it with longer shocks and some stiffer springs . After the test run yesterday I directly changed to brushless power ( out of my tube rock racer because it needed some maintenance ) and now she goes much faster . For the steering problem I have to find a way to lock the servo saver some how . Next I have to do is to properly waterproof my esc cause I very like to take a swim with all of my rc

Just put some Brushless power system in this traxial hybrid . Completely pastidipt the esc and I think 10.5 motor will do the job . It has some good speed now . Next Sunday is the second real test and mister go pro goes with me this time so movie time soon .

Great job. Looks super sporty. The nice thing about the Traxxas front end, is there are parts everywhere. And with a couple upgrades, they are bullet proof. My old p4de (which I regret selling) could take so much abuse.

Curious too about the steering throw.

My Wraith has a lot more steering angle than this rig . But this thing drives completely different . Its really fun when driving at full speed on flat rough terrain and see those front suspension wobbling up and down . I heard a KOH contester saying these race cars are something between a short course a rock crawler and a rally car . Now thats exactly how it drives

Can you do a vid showing running through a pair of hairpin turns to show steering throw?

Don't need to make a video of that , I still need to fix that "servo saver" problem . I think I am block it with some epoxy glue or something . Gonna fix it somehow and then the steering trow will be much better .
