You have some of the nicest builds in the 2.2 section. Such great details. Can't wait to see your final touches on this.

So the real question? How much do you think shipping would be over to the states on this bad-boy? (I am ready to cancel my Yeti pre-order, haha!)

Thanks for the compliment , and I already cancelled my Yeti pre-order !
I decided that the Yeti wasnt the rig for me , I'm liking the crawling / trail running side of the ultra4 more than the racing . If I want to drive something fast , I take out my SC8 !

I painted the chassis today and installed the electronics to give it a run.
These axles are still mock-up ones , waiting for more goodies from the States.
Next job is a battery box then start on the panels, it's really starting to take shape now.

My plans are to put a sheet of black nylon on the bottom of the chassis as a skid and I'll flip the axles around to get a better driveline angle.

I put the winch and lights into the front end , the LED bar is a 12v so I will run it straight from the battery with an on/off switch. The winch is just for looks , every winch I've put in a rig has either died or I never ended up using it. This way I'll cut out the wiring up/switching issues and just make it an ornament from the start.

For the roof panels I use steel for rigidity and all the rest will be .5mm alloy.

Thanks guys, I'm really looking forward to getting all the finishing bits in place and running this thing.
I got 1 side of the panels done , the lower is aluminium the top is steel. still undecided which material to use.
Nearly ready for a run to the sign shop to make up the skins. Yeah Baby !!!!

Lookin good! The panels really do invoke your inner Shannon Campbell

Any thoughts on getting her ride height down a bit? She might be a little rollhappy with how high its riding in that last pic.

Yep, for sure. I haven't even looked at the springs yet, it was sitting on its guts so I put a bit of PVC pipe under it for the pics.
Its surprising how high the 1:1 sits tho , I'll try to match that and tune it from there.

Love it.! Looks good with a solid axle. I would say punch the rear out with some jato rod ends and throw a sway bar on and it will be perfect. Great build!

Thanks, thats a good idea. I slightly screwed up the trailing arm shock mount so the shocks are sitting a bit too vertical, some longer rod-ends on the front will push them out a bit. The wheelbase is 365mm / 14 3/8" as it sits now.
Stainless sway bar and some other tiny goodies are getting made now.
I still look at this thing and say "Damn thats Ugly Beautiful !" I'm itching to beat the hell out of it .

Looks really good. Can I ask Shannon runs maxxis why you didn't use them.

Yeah I know Shannon uses Maxxis but I dont like the look of the Axial treps, they remind me too much of an RTR SCX10..... I just ordered some Voodoo U4 's that should look pretty sweet , they have a nice square shoulder thats more like the 1:1 than the treps. Like everything I order from the states it'll be a 2 week wait to get here.

The 1.9 treps were like a street radial. However I was pleasantly surprised when the 2.2's arrived at my house. They really built up the lugs to be more like the real U4 tire.

I'm sure the voodoo u4's will treat you well as everyone so far has loved them.

A quick running video in my front yard. Lucky I havent finished the new driveway yet, gives me lots of dirt to play on !

Still a few scale bits to make, the interior and the skins to get made up. I think I need a bit of work on the the spring setup too.
