Amazing, very fun build! When using the dinky s links do you need to adjust the link lengths? Great work on this and thanks for sharing.

Matt

For the lowers, not really as the mount is only about 1/8" thick. Goes between the axle link/shock mount and axle.

On the uppers, i think I did have to make new uppers but I am not 100% sure.

I really dig this rig Shane, I'm really starting to get the comp bug again and I'm thinking that a competitive class 3 based rig is going to be what I need to scratch that itch. I am starting to miss the old days or comp crawling, but I think class 3 is closer to the OG comp rigs than the current comp rigs are!

Yep and this rig is making me grin while I drive it. Low slung and 4ws, how can you beat that? The dual rate shock pistons are working great for crawling but you can see in the slow mo it's really controlled while bouncing around. Running CI Double Dueces all around. Should have mounted up this foam/tire combo for ECSC but the rig barely made it there anyways.

You have one half started. Justin Hall's buggy.

I really think this is what class 3 should be too. Scale comp buggies. Real rock crawlers. Class 1 and 2 can have full bodied rigs...

Nice slow-mo Shane.

I'd have to look if it meets the rules or not. I still want to finish that truck, but I want to build something more centered on performance. Lighter, lower, etc. Shane's combo here looks great and has a great stance. I like a lot of what he has done here.

Just my cheesy iPhone 5 camera effect.

The main thing is getting the chassis to the required width based on your inside tire track width. After that, there are only one or two other C3 requirements.

I didn't have a good showing at ECSC due to only having ran this truck a couple battery packs on my rock pile. Those C3 drivers knew what they were doing and their trucks were dialed. I'll get there! The taller pit bulls really help this rig transition over the rocks better.

Not that I am looking for new 2.2s as I am loving my u4s, but how do the two compare with each other?

The main difference is the height (especially for crawlering). The pitbulls are a little taller and with this rig being a belly dragger I really noticed the increased ground clearance. The U4's did good on wet and muddy courses at ECSC but their height was lacking. Most guys were running PB2 or Baja Claws on C3 rigs. Both tires will have their place on this rig. I am still working on getting just the right Holmes motor in the rig.

Tell me more aboot these pistons. I could use something tunable like that for my big Jerp. I liked the slo-mo, the sound is kind of trippy!
