| Wheels UCFab IFS U4 car
I had an Exo buggy I didnt drive much, and after building an IFS car for Matt at Ottsix I decided to build one for myself as well. I went with the same basic chassis design as Matts with a few minor changes. So I tore down the Exo and got the skid cut up. I was planning on running my front shocks on the chassis. So I ditched the front shock mount for a Sick Dlux fab textured G10 link mount. The Exo already had all the upgrades done on the suspension. So I flipped my RPM A arms upside down and backwards. Upsidedown for clearance and backwards to put the shock mounts behind the axle shafts. This required some dremmel work on the hub carriers as well as the A arms. The power plant on this car will be a Tekin Pro4 4600 kv. with a Mambamax Pro. Sending power through a super shafty trans(not pictured). In These pics You can see the new UCFab 7075 trailing arms. by far the strongest trailing arm on the market. as well as offering the best sliding characteristics of any material Small little tech detail. I was having issues bending the hinge pins on this car so I took a piece of DOM drilled it out to 3mm and slid the pin through it. I still bend the pins from time to time, but I get alot more packs in before having to replace them. More updates to come!! |

Beautiful finish on your chassis , such a shame to cover them up with paint and panels ! During my days of racing a Team Durango DESC410R SC truck the weak point of them was the hinge pins. The strongest replacements were the McMaster Carr #91595a 146 pins or to use the shaft from a worn/broken hex driver . An old Axial driver shaft I used lasted the life of the truck. EDIT . its been a long time since I owned an Exo and I just realised the hingepins are a threaded hex head style, a mod to make them a captured style might still work tho. Front 4mm pins from a sc10 4x4 fit the exo perfectly. You have to make small plates to make them captured at the ends. They are tough.. I bent 4mm titanium pins but these have held on.. Wheels, do you sell any of that 3/16 dom? |
