| Herbst Trophy truck build
Hello all im new to the forums and have began to build A trophy truck. i am using a slash 4x4 front end and a 1/8 inch cut chassis. The battery holder is a slice up part of a tmaxx chassis that i had layin around .... i am using savage xs shocks (with soft springs) for the front and am going to buy ax-10 aluminum shocks for the rear. This is going to be a long term project so dont expect post's every single day.... ... For the rear i plan on using a a ar-60 rear axle , but after a while i plan to upgrade to a centered wraith axle (since the hardcore is not available anymore....) i am going to use a slash 2wd Transmission but i am not sure if i am going to make it 2wd or 4wd i began to start thinking about building this after watching several of his you tube videos such as this one Subscribe to him he is a great guy!!! Here are some pics of the where i am at with the build right now= and here is the truck i plan on Replicating Critics are Welcome Last edited by skedhead; 02-28-2015 at 11:21 AM. |

Fabbed up some trailing arm mounts today from some some L channel , also grapped some 1/4 x 1/4 steel square tube to make some trailing arms.... im also gonna try my hand at liquid mask for the first time .... since i dont have a welder nor the means to get acyeltine and propane on a regular basis im going to do a Aluminum Brazed cage , my only worry is that it is going to bend on my first crash... |

Got alot of work done tonight.... after cutting the square steel tube i heated it up red hot and started making the ends flat by hitting it with a hammer real hard..... still need to paint em up but i am happy with em.. they have plenty of travel and are super beefy. i think i am going to buy the body and axle next when i get enough money.... |

You have some fantastic skills and ideas for your age bud! Keep it up, I showed my son (7) your build and he said "dad, I hope I can build like that when I grow up". Can't wait to see more |

Thanks Alot man!... Well since i ordered some Twin hammers trailing arms and they are going to be a little but to short i think i have found a decent way of lengthing them. The arms are three separate pieces #1 the screw that goes into the arm #2 The rod end that threads onto the screw #3and t he arm itself. so here is what i am contemplating to do.... since the stock set screw for the arm is 15mm I will be able to replace it with this M3 x 20mm Set Screw (10) or this Kyosho M3X25 Set Screw KYO1 S53025 | eBay to find the correct wheelbase for my body, my only worry is that when the arm is under stress from a jump or crash that the screw will bend since it is so long |

I received my trailing arms yesterday! I am a bit frustrated though =( ... One of the arms did not get threaded properly from the factory so the set screw will not go in all the way.... And since I bought these from eBay I'm kinda stuck with em.. Should have pics up today

So here they are! they are fairly light due to being aluminum .... im a little bit dissapointed that one of the inner threads is messed up :( but i called Gonitrohobbys and they said to contact them via paypal on ebay , so they might give me a replacement =) .... im defiantly going to have to lengthen them with different screw but so far im happy Enough Travel ???? |

I agree, but it doesn't look like the front end is attached yet. -Corrupt |

Im making the wheelbase to be for the Proline ford raptor ''scale'' instead of flo-tek... the reason it is so short is becuase i haven't lengthened the trailing arms yet. And yes the front end is connected i will post pics of the underside when i have time. I am lengthening them buy putting a longer screw into the end of the arms so the rod will stick out more , therefore making them longer

I plan on ordering either the Slash 2wd transmission or the Proline Scale ford raptor body next..... For winter i plan to have it 4wd but in the summer i can have it in 2wd. and the best part is i will be able to install a 2wd transmission for 4wd since the transmssion has 2 outputs for driveshafts

Since my original Tmaxx Driveshafts were too short i coupled 2 males and 1 female end to make a 3 piece driveshaft..... The hardest part is getting that stupid driveshaft end on the metal ball Should have my axle by next week taddaaaa.... might have to cut the male ends down because they are to long though |
