Default Todd's Scale Chevy Truck Build

Ok, so I've decided to explore some new horizons, as this will be my first scale project, and my first build thread. I expect this will be a slow build, as I've got too many other projects going on to devote too much time and $$ right away to this.

Anyways, here's what I have planned at this point:
Diaz DTrail frame
Leaf springs
TLT axles
Losi or Associated tranny
Clodbuster body
Tires - ??? they will not be the Moabs in the pics, they are too tall. I will probably use a 1.9 rim, but I'm still not sure on that.

I thought that the blower was too wild looking, so with some helpful advice from all of you, decided to take a shot at making a cowl induction to cover the hole in the hood. This is my first experience working with styrene or a hard Tamiya body.

Here is my first attempt, and I was hoping for some feedback. I personally think that it might be sitting too high in the front, and that it would look better if I sanded it down to sit a little lower. It's not glued down yet, and I will be using filler to blend it into the hood. What do you guys think?

Thanks!

well make it sit a lot lower in the front and show us pics. i think it could look wild with a little work but now it looks kind of funny. it'll look right when your happy with it. just fiddle with it a little more and good job for trying something different.

Thanks guys, I'm going to work this week on getting it to sit at a lower profile, then I will re-post.

And i will probably never be happy, I'm overly critical of my own work.

Ok, here are some shots of my second attempt. I like this one a lot better. I'm thinking it will look pretty good once I blend it into the body with filler. At the same time I plan to fill in the seams for the non-functional tilt hood.

And I added a center rib to help bled it into the style of the factory hood.

I like the new cowl alot better. What did you use to make the bodyline down the center?

I'd ditch the moabs and use highlift tires, or 1.9 tires at least.

I would have to agree to ditch the 2.2 and go with the 1.9

That was half-round styrene strips I found at the hobby store, but I can't remember the size. There were 4 or 5 sizes to pick from.

Thanks for the compliments, and don't worry about the Moabs, they won't be used for this build, they are just all I have sitting around. I'm not sure what I want to use yet, maybe Geo's on black stock car wheels. I was thinking about 1.9 tires, but they all seem to be rock hard.

Tires are a ways off, next is to get into the bond work and paint, and get a chassis ordered up.

Atleast it looks like you didn't go without power. Atleast for not too long Mine didn't come up till late lastnight. I was going through RCC withdrawls..
