Thanks.

Eddie is going to black out the windows and do some other things to make it his. We were both at an East Texas event, so it made it easier to just hand it over to him.

It was great to visit about your rigs and see them in person in East Texas, even better in person!

You need the box of parts I gathered for my 6x6 build to build. I already have the DCW wheels you run so often bought for it! Ill let it go real cheap.

Cant wait to see what you come up with next.

But buffalo is an ied clearance wagon. Our mraps carried 3 to 4 hardcore dismount warriors in the back ready to snatch mr terrorist at the drop of a dime. The buffalo is a giant glorified pooper scooper. No offense to you engineers or eods out there.
The MRAP juwt looks so much meaner! International did a helluva job on them.

I've owned a number of #szczerbabuilt rigs, this one is the best handling. I have two battery packs through it. One as a baseline and the second to test changes. The truck needed springs to handle the vehicles weight, so the first battery pack it was pretty much bottomed out. With such a low CG, this big rig handled. It's funny, it should not drive this well LOL. But it wouldn't handle any sweet jumps in that condition, so changes have already been made.

I'm running a 4S, 3300mah 70C lipo battery. The two speed shift servo is not working and a replacement servo has been ordered. For now I've been shifting it by hand. After I changed the springs and got the chassis off the axles, this big rig rock crawls very well.

Towards the end of this build Szczerba got really busy with life and other rigs. That's pretty typical for him and he delivered the assembled rig at the last comp. The bed area needed some trimming for shock clearance;

Stock Vaterra springs on left; the right has the long Vaterra spring flipped to top with an Associated spring added to the bottom with a Jeepindoug SCX delrin cup set added;

I changed out the springs front and rear and it made a noticeable difference in high speed handling.

I made some tweaks to the programming on the Castle Creation One Cell MMP for the 2nd battery pack. The ESC and Tekin motor stay cool. I'm pleasantly surprised. I wasn't sure if the KV would be a good match, but so far it seems great.

Another thing that I changed out was the upper shock mount style. Previously the shocks were simply bolted to the chassis tab, but in doing so, it allows the entire upper shock mount to move because of the rubber dampner in the shock cap.

What was needed was a secured stud off the tab. That way the stud doesn't move or flex, but the rubber dampner inside the shock cap can still function as designed:

Getting used, that is what I like to see. The rig definitely needed testing and tuning as didn't find the time to do that. I hope it handles well, as I tried to learn from my chassis setup mistakes from the first CXT build.

This is one awesome build I can see there was a lot of thought put in it but yet not so technical that some body with semi minimal skills could take a stab at building one not saying it was easy to build great work and thank you for ideas if you don't mind if I use some of them when I get around to doing mine LOL

Thanks. Cab was fairly easy to cut and shut. Some general knowledge is needed to setup suspension and shock mounting. A lot of my time was spent on meticulously making sure the truck would perform.

You know you're having fun and using the rig when you're breaking parts. This rig is so much fun to drive. I'll have some video of this rig on the CI U4 course later this week. Pics of the damage from about 7-8 battery packs through it so far;

First pack, took out the smoke stack;

Views: 752
Size:  170.0 KB

3rd pack broke a mirror cab mount;

Views: 753
Size:  159.1 KB

The hood had some minor damage prior to me, but I made it much worse on the 7th pack racing it on the u4 track today;

The proline lens didn't last too long;
Name:  ImageUploadedByTapatalk1440983705.135180.jpg
Views: 746
Size:  153.3 KB

The front bumper took a sizable impact tonight on track when it hit a tree.

Left side took the impact;

Cab now has a lean to the left when opened, and the right side cab mount broke off;

All of this is repairable, so I'm not concerned. The rig performs amazing for its size. Well done Szczerba.

This is a short video to introduce the #szczerba built CXT - for Dakar Rally style racing. The chassis, link, shock geo and box truck design is from Szczerba Built, axles are Vanquish Products all aluminum Axial AR60's with DMG axle skids. The transmission is a RC4WD 2 Speed Axial unit.

Also in the video is the Crawler Innovations 2.2" Trophy Class Ultra 4 named "Take 2", and the Axial Yeti #2 which runs a locked front end and features many Vanquish Products upgrades.

The Ultra 4 is using 1.50" Width 6 Bolt Wheels from Crawler Innovations that use Vanquish Products SLW hubs, Ottsix U4 Tires in the silver compound, 5.5 Double Deuce Foams, Comp Cut inners with Medium Outers front & rear; Part # CWR-1005 from Crawler Innovations.

This Yeti is using 1.50" Width 6 Bolt Wheels from Crawler Innovations that use Vanquish Products SLW hubs, RC4WD Baja Claw Radial TTC Tires, 6.0 Double Deuce Foams, Comp Cut inners with Medium Outers front & rear; Part # CWR-1025 from Crawler Innovations and one set of CWR-3015 Deuce's Wild Tuning Disc's.

The Dakar Truck is using custom DCW 2.2 bead locks, 6.0 Double Deuce Foams with Firm Outers CWR-1026, and RC4WD tires.

Care to share a bit of knowledge on the suspension setup? I was thinking for the truck I am about to build I want to scale it all up to full scale and put into one of the 4 link calculator's out there to get some info, but not sure if that is worth anything as I don't know if an RC is truly going to perform like a 1:1 rig or if the same concerns from 1:1 (anti-squat, axle steer, etc) apply.

Thanks and as always, this thing is killer!

Wes

No software needed but all those things you listed are present in 1:10, especially in these heavier builds.

Just look at the lower and upper suspension links at ride height and where they mount to the subframe. Squat/Anti-squat, triangulation, etc.

After that, it's about chassis shock mounting to let the springs work. See pictures in posts. Leaning the shocks back and forth in reference to the 90 degs at full bump only makes your springs softer or firmer and effects how your shocks cycle. So tuning is tricky if you do that and really intensifies as the trucks get heavier. Post #84 for the best way. Applies to other types of solid axle trucks too that have some weight or will see some speed.

Rear sway bar is 100% mandatory on these big trucks too. Maybe even a front one if you are not crawling a ton.

Side note, I just scored a full 1:6 CXT off the bay!
