I haven't bothered to yet, but the drill bits do tend to go off-center over long distances, especially with smaller bits for doing holes for 3mm screws. didn't have that issue today though making this "beef tube".

It doesn't bother me a whole lot, as I'm not too picky, as long as the part works in the end

I've seen the same for doing small rods and lathing them smaller.
Always debated getting the drill chuck to hold both ends solid and this pushed me to finally get it.
Amd I just ordered $30 worth of metal from mcmaster.

When I'm turning something that already has a hole in the shaft ( like the brass tube I turned down for beef tubes on my IBEX Camaro) I use a live center. Put it in the tail stock and tighten the point into the tube.

yep, I use the live center as well whenever I can. I drill the center hole first, then turn down the outer diameter

Started mocking up the axle truss/upper link mount/servo mount for the narrowed AR60 axle. Just need to incorporate the lower link mounts, and make a few tweaks before I transfer to sheet metal.

Mockup for truss is done. All links mounts, servo mount, and shock mounts (holes in the side, will weld a nut to the inside) locations blocked in.

Now to transfer to metal.

Axle truss is done other than paint. I mig welded this one together, and then ground down the welds some. Then sandblasted it. Steering links and shortening the long side universal, and this will go under the truck.

Axle is under the truck. Just need to do a little trimming of the knuckles to get full steering angle, and then make the steerimg links (gotta go get some threaded rod in the morning)

Trying to have it all buttoned up (except for paint on the truss) for the G6 on Sunday.

I'll also re-weigh the truck after the steering links are made.

Got the steering links made this morning, and then took the truck with me out to a local hobby shops airfield for a cookout/bbq they held (bike is borrowed from work)

Full extension

Full compression, and everything clears

weighed the truck again, and it's a couple ounces heavier
