The Interceptor: A U4 super car http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/...B757503447.jpg http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/...C30B79FBB8.jpg http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/...B757503447.jpg http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/...42A33FE9AA.jpg http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/...2A65F9CF4C.jpg http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/...9B6E3BC796.jpg http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/...19F43433_1.jpg http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/...4568A55A_1.jpg http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/...A26220EF23.jpg http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/...D952575C2B.jpg http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/...663932CB_1.png This car has been floating around in my head for a couple years now. It started out as just some texts between Del Monte; but the more we talked and the more I thought about dealing with stock wraith geometry the more it seemed like a worthwhile tradeoff to make a car that flat out works. Specs: Yeti trailing arms front and rear, as upper links for steering clearance and rock clearance Team Associated 12mm shocks with MIP bypass1 pistons Vanquish Currie axles with a twist8) Tekin RX8 and either a Tekin 4000kv or Holmes 3500kv motor Chassis mounted steering servo Most likely Ottsix U4's with CI foams and wheels (of course) 3/16" Titanium chassis, fully tig welded with lots of carbon fiber accents and tabs |
Re: The Interceptor: A U4 super car Enough parts finally got started that I could start a thread. Mock up lower link mounts: http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/...088185F9ED.jpg Axle tabs: http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/...5BAF94231B.jpg http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/...D1915DBC85.jpg http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/...464C5025C7.jpg Rob at Superstition Machine Works has been a huge help, not only with making parts for me but advise on how to draw everything up in CAD and have it actually work in real life. All of the pictures above are his, I'm just passing them along. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/...D650810292.jpg The rear axle. Wraith long side tube and an XR tube for about 5/8" more width. Front axle is the same, I just can't find any pictures of it right now. I wanted the extra width after racing my Yeti back to back with my previous wraith; there was just no comparison in stability since the Yeti is almost an inch wider. Yes, I could have just put wider hubs on stock width axles but that much scrub just doesn't make sense. |
Re: The Interceptor: A U4 super car Serious next level stuff in this truck. I'm glad to see it starting to take shape. |

Here's a better picture of the rear axle. The upper link plate is for temp use in another car while I wait for all of the parts to show up. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/...B9F1D3C52F.jpg |
Re: The Interceptor: A U4 super car Subed. I want to see how this rig turns out. Is looking good so far. |
Re: The Interceptor: A U4 super car You are making two of everything right? |
Re: The Interceptor: A U4 super car Looking forward to seeing this come to life, Rob told me about a few tid-bits but I need to see pics. "thumbsup" |
Re: The Interceptor: A U4 super car Building a policia car eh? Cool stuff here, I'm watching.:afro: |
Re: The Interceptor: A U4 super car I'm listening...... |
Re: The Interceptor: A U4 super car What a diva... considered an upgraded material for most builds is apparently "good enough" for mockup on a super car. The actual skid is missing because it's already in a box heading Casey's way! http://i596.photobucket.com/albums/t...scjw0skti.jpeg |

Re: The Interceptor: A U4 super car There is room for six. You know my paypal... Haha |
Re: The Interceptor: A U4 super car Very nice. Plan ahead and execute! Looking great. |
Re: The Interceptor: A U4 super car You going to chop up the stock wraith cage or leave it stock? Also, where are the CAD flex shots? |
Re: The Interceptor: A U4 super car Quote:
Flex shots will come after I get all of the chassis jigs designed. Also I might need to figure out how to manipulate all that crap |
Re: The Interceptor: A U4 super car Looking very nice. "thumbsup""thumbsup" Especially how you do the trans plate and link mounts. Will be following. |
Re: The Interceptor: A U4 super car Snoozer of a thread. C'mon man! |
Re: The Interceptor: A U4 super car Yeah, slacker... |
Re: The Interceptor: A U4 super car :flipoff: I got a box of parts from Rob this week. Bunch of axle tabs, the skid plate and some printed mock up link mounts. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/...C820974838.jpg http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/...6A18A744FF.jpg http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/...AF71335146.jpg http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/...1EEBC112D7.jpg That one part is upside down for you Rob |

My parts guy cut the upper link plates a little small so I need to ream them out to the proper dimension (0.610") so they fit on the axle tube. I can't really do much more on this until I get the subframe jigs drawn up and cut. I want everything to be indexed so that the whole car is straight and square and repeatable. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/...4/subframe.jpg |
