Default The Interceptor: A U4 super car

This car has been floating around in my head for a couple years now. It started out as just some texts between Del Monte; but the more we talked and the more I thought about dealing with stock wraith geometry the more it seemed like a worthwhile tradeoff to make a car that flat out works.

Specs:
Yeti trailing arms front and rear, as upper links for steering clearance and rock clearance
Team Associated 12mm shocks with MIP bypass1 pistons
Vanquish Currie axles with a twist
Tekin RX8 and either a Tekin 4000kv or Holmes 3500kv motor
Chassis mounted steering servo
Most likely Ottsix U4's with CI foams and wheels (of course)
3/16" Titanium chassis, fully tig welded with lots of carbon fiber accents and tabs

Enough parts finally got started that I could start a thread.

Mock up lower link mounts:

Axle tabs:

Rob at Superstition Machine Works has been a huge help, not only with making parts for me but advise on how to draw everything up in CAD and have it actually work in real life. All of the pictures above are his, I'm just passing them along.

The rear axle. Wraith long side tube and an XR tube for about 5/8" more width. Front axle is the same, I just can't find any pictures of it right now. I wanted the extra width after racing my Yeti back to back with my previous wraith; there was just no comparison in stability since the Yeti is almost an inch wider. Yes, I could have just put wider hubs on stock width axles but that much scrub just doesn't make sense.

Serious next level stuff in this truck. I'm glad to see it starting to take shape.

It's mostly your fault.

Here's a better picture of the rear axle. The upper link plate is for temp use in another car while I wait for all of the parts to show up.

What a diva... considered an upgraded material for most builds is apparently "good enough" for mockup on a super car. The actual skid is missing because it's already in a box heading Casey's way!

Looks like there's enough there for two skids...

You going to chop up the stock wraith cage or leave it stock?

Also, where are the CAD flex shots?

Flex shots will come after I get all of the chassis jigs designed. Also I might need to figure out how to manipulate all that crap

I got a box of parts from Rob this week. Bunch of axle tabs, the skid plate and some printed mock up link mounts.

That one part is upside down for you Rob

Coming together. My parts guy cut the upper link plates a little small so I need to ream them out to the proper dimension (0.610") so they fit on the axle tube.

I can't really do much more on this until I get the subframe jigs drawn up and cut. I want everything to be indexed so that the whole car is straight and square and repeatable.
