Bed looks awesome.

Just remembered, I painstakingly measured out my cut down single cab to get a custom wrap by FreqEskinZ. I am sure he still has the cab template on file and could design whatever you want.

Thanks. It's a little basic, I'd really like to add some scale torch bottles, welder, and vice to the bed to give it more of a utility truck vibe, just nothing really made in ~1/8 scale, need a 3d printer. Also ordered a piece of 5/8" stainless tubing to hopefully make a scale 5" stack with.

I originally wanted to paint the cab but the red has kinda grown on me and my glue seam came out fairly clean. I'll certainly keep FreqEskinZ in mind. Maybe a "Wild Thing" skin, an old school IH Baja 1000 truck.

Good progress today. Pretty much just needs to be fully welded, filed, sanded and painted now. Motor should be out for delivery as I type this. Weight sans motor or battery is 11.6LBS

Inner fenders, electronics trays/gap hiders.

Welds on the bed.

Sway bar.

More sway bar stuff.

And a PSA about welding on your rigs. At one point I went to turn the tires and they wouldn't turn very much. Instinct told me to take the front diff cover off and this is what I found. No idea how, I either had the frame clamped in the vise or the ground clamp on the frame. Also had tires on the rig the whole time. Somehow current went through the diff. Only hurt the ring gear (stock aluminum, plenty of spares).

Motor came in, unfortunately it still has the same problem Guess I'll email John again.

It's surprisingly quick though. The stock foams in the tires are begging for mercy too.

With light forward throttle when it encounters resistance the motor will just reverse itself. Also if it's rolling backwards on the drag brake and you try to give it forward throttle it just goes backwards instead, it's quite loud when it does this. It works fine in reverse. ESC and sensor wire are new and test fine with a Trailmaster Pro motor. I sent it back and they replaced the stator, motor still behaves exactly the same.

Well, ordered tires and foams. Went with Pitbull Growlers and Deuces Wild foams. Also snagged some of the SSD diff skids. I really like the RC4WD mil-spec tire like I'm using for the spare but 5.2" is just too short for this rig, 5.5" looks a lot better. Also ordered the hard springs for these shocks. RTR weight is 12.5 LBS.

Also added some door edge trim to the side of the bed. Will be removing that rear tube and doing something for mudflaps. I'd really like to finish the welding but the TIG is just about out of gas and I don't want to ugly it all up by using a MIG on the thin stuff.

Finished up the welding and painted it today. Also got in my tires and foams. Not impressed with the fit of the foams. These are standard Deuces Wild foams and 5.5" tires and I can push in 1/4" on the tire with an air gap before hitting the foam. The Tall foams are supposed to be for taller tires like RBIIs and such, so I dunno whats up. Still better than my old junk, but I wanted more support than this. Talked with John a little about my motor and it sounds like he's gonna take care of me but haven't heard anything in the last couple days, guess I'll email him again. I should have just gone with a 2200kv Puller Pro in the first place.

Well I got the SSD Diamond front diff, VP Scale Cs, SSD Knuckles and VP servo mounts installed today. Along with the SSD diff skids and the stiff springs for the shocks. The springs could still be a bit stiffer but they're not too bad. I also ordered the correct height foams for these tires, the CI website is very incomplete right now and the description on RPP isn't correct.

Painted swaybar parts.

Underside view.

Front diff and such.

Pretty much the last thing is getting a working motor and replacing this dying servo probably with a 7954, and some VP Ti Wraith links for the front.

Thanks! Your two builds were definitely the inspiration for mine.

As a side note, Holmes is taking care of me. I'm trading the Revolver for a 2200kv Puller Pro. Can't wait to get this rig out on the trails and get some action shots of it. I love how stable it seems to be so far.

What big truck would be complete without mudflaps?

New motor, front links and tall DW foams came in today. That's everything except the new servo. Also ordered some parts for a gooseneck trailer build. Gonna be leaf sprung on RC4WD black 1.55 wheels and Pitbull Growlers, just to match the truck. I ordered Motorworx SLW bearing hubs, so the axles will just be solid 1/2" aluminum bars with 4mm studs that the wheels will slide over.

Those rc4wd wheels have a different hub pattern than slw I believe, just a heads up

I checked out my roommate's set, it looks to be a matter of just enlarging the bolt holes and center hole. Only other option in 1.55 would be SSDs new wheels but a beadlock style wheel would look a little silly on a trailer.

Got HD UD gears installed in the diffs. Pinion/spur is 11/56, it's still modestly fast on 3s, at least as fast a rig this big needs to go anyways. Got a 7954 servo installed. Took it outside for a bit, it actually crawls better with these foams since they aren't completely collapsed under the weight of the rig reducing it's ground clearance.

Also got one of my RC4WD wheels drilled out for the SLW bearing hubs for the trailer project. Using 11x4x4 bearings instead of 11x5x4, so they slide right on 4mm studs I'll be using on the axles, so I can use standard axle nuts.
