Thanks! I replaced my bare bones styrene inner "fenders" with a set from a cut up washer fluid jug, that should keep most of the nasty crap out of the inside of the body. Trailer build is a little on hold for the moment. Just pulled out the neglected above ground pool at my house, the empty space is being turned into a crawler course |

| Re: IH CXT Build In your set up the width of the Wraith skid appears to be the same as the setup of the chassis beams. But doesn't that interfere with the shocks? As the shock mounts on the Axial axles seems a little narrow. ergo; top mount will be wider than he axle mounts. and that could cause binding during suspension cycles. |

Yeah I got around that simply by spacing the shocks out a little, looks a little goofy and probably not ideal, but it does work, no binding or rubbing. Basically my goal was to keep complications to a minimum and build everything in a straightforward manner, if that makes sense. Probably the biggest complication with doing the frame at the same width as the skid was having to make my own swaybar setup, the the Wraith/Yeti offerings were too narrow. Always a little trade off.

I figured as much. I think I'll go with a 80mm (+/- 3.5") main chassis width. Same as wraith shock mounts and cover the difference in a bend in the sideplates.... or a fabricated skid.... or ... (gues you know the feeling) ;) |

Went on it's maiden voyage today, about a mile of trailing to and from the crawling spot, spent a good 2 hours or more driving and didn't have to swap out the 3200mah 3s pack once. ESC stays nice and cool running down the trail, fan will kick in if you're crawling it fairly hard. Nothing broke except I did tear both mudflaps off, time for a more robust solution. The chip out of the windshield happened at home, I can't find the piece either Our at home crawling course is coming along nicely, got the pool out and hauled in 3 yards of drain rock yesterday, I've got a couple small rock gardens built up with some old broken up concrete, just need some big rocks now. Even though they're tall DW foams they still conform just fine under the weight of this rig. Last edited by HahnsB2; 04-03-2016 at 04:01 PM. |

Went to our crawling spot today. This rig and tires works surprisingly well. Unfortunately I sheared the rear driveshaft at the weld, guess I made it too brittle or something. |

Made a new rear driveshaft using an MIP Yeti shaft. And work continues slowly on the trailer. I machined the axles today. |

Got more work done on the trailer. Undecided how I wanna do the deck at the moment. Also a better set of mudflap mounts in progress, hopefully I don't tear them off again. |

That trailer looks heavy duty. What are your plans for it, flatbed, or would make a nice base for a fifth wheel camper?

Nice. I was thinking about going with the gray incisions on my next CXT build. You have a picture from the side of the rig? Trailer looks good. |

That's a good clean truck you have right there. (And yes it's technically dirty, but YKWIM.) |

No rush on the pictures, I was just curious how they looked from a side view, Ie wheel design/diameter in relation to the truck. | |

I really liked the bed and mudflap setup, but I keep tearing off mudflaps. I didn't like the look at all with the mudlfaps removed. So I extended the bed a bit with a bit of a dovetail shape and I think it looks a lot better. Weight is 13.75lbs with a battery. I also wound new rear springs that are quite a bit stiffer, and I replaced the broken sway bar with one that's one size bigger. Also continuing work on the trailer. Decided to cut the neck down a bit and gave it the proper angle. Also added a dovetail. It's looking quite a bit better than it was. Also just ordered a 60t spur gear. It should just barely clear the front driveshaft, then I think I can drop to a 8t pinion. The rig is really faster than it needs to be with a 2200kv and 9/56 gearing, might as well get as much stress off the ESC as I can, especially with a trailer. If I ever need to go faster I can get a 4s pack. Last edited by HahnsB2; 09-03-2017 at 09:03 PM. |

Dropping to 8/60 gearing was a noticeable change from 9/56. I can tell the ESC runs quite a bit cooler now, rig still has enough speed to not be overly slow. 60t spur just clears the Junfac front shaft without using an extended tranny output, MIP would hit for sure. |
