| IH CXT Build
What have I got myself into This thing is massive, but I had to have one after seeing a few builds around here, most notably Szczerba's two builds. I'll probably start picking up the parts for it after xmas. I have a set of stock AR60 housings, and some stock gears laying around, just need the shafts. Plan on using a Wraith skid with wraith length links up front and perhaps Yeti length in the rear, so Bomber (14.75") wheelbase. I have a spare HH BLE ESC, Trailaster Pro 3300KV and a HV400 servo for it. I'll probably gear the hell out of it since I imagine it's gonna be heavy. I have a set of Axial Trailready beadlocks, will probably use the R35 Ripsaws from my Wraith when I get Pitbulls for it. Will probably chop the cab and make it a single cab. I want a different color and black grille too. I will for sure be chopping of the little fender flares. Ideally I'll build a 1 or 2 rig gooseneck to pull behind it. It should really have a winch or two as well. Specs. Slowly plugging away at this. Got the cab glued back together. Went to assemble my AR60s and realized I gave my roommate my set of stock spools to use in one of his builds, so I ordered a set of Gripfabs. Also got a Wraith tranny on the way. Got new tires for my Wraith so I took the Ripsaws off and put them back on my set of Trailreadys, have a set of VP 475 SLW hubs coming for the. I should be starting on the frame soon. Plan is to split a piece of 1" square tube down the middle to create the rails. I don't need too much more in the way of parts to have a driveable rig. The spare Holmes servo I have has a busted gear shaft, I'm gonna attempt to make a new one out of a drill bit. I'm going to be making at least the rear links, front should be Wraith length. Also need to order driveshafts, the rear which I'll extend, and decide on shocks, since this will be a heavy pig. |

Slowly but surely. The power plant, Holmes 1800kv sensored Revolver motor and a Holmes BLE ESC. Since this is gonna be a big heavy rig I added a MMP fan to help keep the heat in check. |

Custom flatbed of sorts, should have little fenders and such. I'd like a couple of spare tires mounted against the cab and a main hoop around the back of the cab. All the tube work will probably be done with 1/4" steel rod. I decided to order a set of the longest Ti links that VP offers for the rear, wheelbase should end up close to 16". |

Made some good progress today. Started making the frame and extended the rear driveshaft today. Also cut the fender flares off. Tomorrow I'm wanting to start on the body mounting. Don't mind how close the driveshaft is to the links, that will be solved soon |

More work today. Made the mounting bracket for the body. You can see it has two posts that slide into rubber grommets on the frame, the body is then secured with the rear mounting bosses. Also made the bumper and cab hoop. Current weight is 8.3lbs with no electronics except the servo. Expecting 12 or so when done. Never mind some of my ugly welds, I'm just mediocre with a TIG. |

I said I was going to fix that driveshaft clearance with the links I really like these SSD axles. Just got the rear for now. VP link mounts. Went with 93mm Gmade shocks. Made my own steel steering links today. Direct copies of the VP links on my Wraith. Turned down the ends and ran a single point threading tool over them once and finished the threads with a die. |

Very nice work. You will be amazed at that chassis/subframe setup. If you are not doing a rear sway bar, I would highly suggest it.

Thanks! Your build definitely makes me want a sway bar. The Axial one is okay? Just not exactly sure where I'm going to attach the links on the axle.

Believe me, you will 100% want a rear swaybar on this truck. I would figure out a way to make it work, even it involves going back to a stock wraith housing or one that has pass through axle holes. Just my thoughts though. Here is how I did mine with a front wraith sway bar. The rear one is wider and may work better for you with that housing. Not sure on that part number. Yeah I'm looking at it right now. I'll make a bracket that attaches to the link and shock holes on the link mounts and extends a mounting point to the rear for me. My frame is too wide to use a stock bar though, I've got a big selection of music wire at work I can try. Probably make my own arms too at this point, since I can't use a kit bar.

Gotta have some protection when using rare bodies that aren't made anymore. Will probably add side tie-in bars too. Dying to work on this more, during the week I can only work on it during my breaks at work. Hoping to have it 95% tied up this weekend. Hopefully I'll have the motor for it. I was testing the Revolver and it's got some sort of problem and it's back at HH being looked at. |

Tacked the bed together and added the inner fender panels. Also tentative position of the spare. Weight is now at 10lbs. Last edited by HahnsB2; 02-26-2016 at 06:28 PM. |
